How did offense look?

That can’t be right. He threw several on just the last drive.
Ball traveling over 20 yards in the air .
Maybe the last 3 throws with under a minute left in desperation. Aside from that the only throw was the pick
Everything was a check down because the receivers can’t get open and can’t get off the line in press coverage.

I guess I didn’t expect our offense to instantaneously be world beaters under Holgorsen. Did we look better than we did under Satt? And if so, will we continue to improve? That’s what I was asking.
Yes if the trigger man plays decently. There were plays called to get WRs off the LOS and he called successive plays in a row if one play worked. I believe only two RBs were used, Dowdell and Emmit, and had some nice success. It appears DR is gun shy and afraid to "throw" the ball with authority. He keeps trying to "place" it in a spot. There were many correct plays called but the trigger man choked.

I thought DR got rid of the ball a little more quickly in this game. Someone, I'm assuming OCDH, drilled into his head he can't be holding the ball back there for 5-6 seconds on every pass.

Someone posted on the game thread, "Has DR thrown any passes that HH can't throw?" and I think that answer is no. By the 4th Qtr I felt HH should have been put in. I think he sees the field a little better than DR and he gives us a another legitimate rush option.

Rhule's game management is really starting to concern me. Maybe the addition of OCDH recently contributed to that today but wow... I could do a better job and believe me, none of you would want that.
I believe DH will have gained some valuable "in-game performance" knowledge today of the actual ability of these kids. He's a smart enough guy to upgrade the offensive performance by next Sat.

His last 3 words in the helmet to DR every snap should be, "RUN THIS PLAY."

How do we know HH sees the field better than DR? If last year is any indication, I would disagree. Maybe it’s true, but we haven’t seen enough of him this year to say that, have we?

So if we fix the play calling, the next step is fix the trigger man. Hopefully that comes quickly.

Who GAF? Two more L's and shoot this season in the head.
I’m just curious if we looked any different, because if we didn’t, the next two weeks would be even harder to watch. At least a change has been made and it could pay off.

Bottom line - one touchdown and two field goals. And one of the field goals was the result of a turnover deep in USC's territory. Not nearly good enough.

I'm not sure anyone on the staff has the balls to do the right thing. Their sphincters are really tight trying to get that 6th win ...
That’s what I’m afraid of to. The team is not getting better. They are mistake, prone, and they do not execute simple things. I have no reason to believe this will change. Coach will not do the hard things that are required.

I have the feeling the crowd is gonna get real restless, real quick, Saturday if NU comes flying out of the blocks like normal......

I get it. I'm just tired of trying to have substantive conversations about this program. We lose. A lot. It rationally does not seem possible that anything could pay off for this team. I should try to stay away from here when I have nothing positive to add.

Just gonna post this hot take in every thread, aren’t you?
It has been obvious since the Illinois game. Nothing has been done, or the appearance of doing something, to fix his game. The same mistakes are being made. That is either bad coaching or refusing to be coached. To this day, he still does not set his feet like Rhule had told him to do. You can't throw in rhythm that way and your passes float.

So I guess to answer your question, yes I am.

That’s fair

The QB is hot garbage.
We’ve seen glimpse how good Dylan can be, jmo I think he’s been hurt since the Illinois game and the defensive coaches have thrown things at him that confuses him especially when satt was the oc, I still believe we will see a new offense by the Iowa game

You’re good. I’m just trying to see if THIS TIME there is something we can hang our hat on. But I get it.

Fair enough. We will see if anything changes under DH.

Northern ILL gave the blueprint on how to defend him. His QB rating against man coverage is in the low 40s. Every team since then used that blue print with great success. Prior to that game he faced zone coverage and looked like a giant killer. It appeared that USC played some zone in the first half and got burned. I'm not sure how to coach him out of this.

Honestly, the run game looked a lot better at times. Just no consistency with anything on offense. I don't know what the stats actually say, but it feels like we're especially terrible on 1st down.

Aside from that, be very concerned by how easily USC was running the ball on us. Not sure about Wisc, but Iowa will be licking their chops.

Like what? He just fired his OC, it’s not like he is refusing to make changes.

Offense looked better

So glad our head coach finally made a move to improve it

Perhaps next week he will hire a When To Call A Motherf*cking Timeout Coordinator
It seems like a CEO type coach could be free enough to handle that part of the game. But clearly that’s too hard for him. Makes you wonder what Rhule actually brings to the table.

Pass pro was hit or miss. The O-line had their moments but they are painful to watch. USC has some physical DBs. USC's defensive scheme wasn't overly complex but they were able to disrupt a lot. The running game seemed different in the 2nd half. Instead of running into a pile, the RBs bounced it outside and made some good gains. Two games left and the O is 3 to 4 weeks away.
