I just looked at the catch by Reilly again. He was running at angle toward the sideline and his momentum took him out. A little contact by #39, made no difference. Is that what Keith Williams and HCMR teach?

Weak troll attempt at best. I will give it 5 minutes tops.

Deny that he is angling out of bounds. ???
Are we now going to look at all missed calls from kickoff through the end of the game? There are judgment calls that are missed throughout the entirety of the game. What do you want Nebraska to do about this one? Why is this judgment call treated so differently than a blown pass interference or missed holding call that happened 5 - 10 minutes earlier?

Maybe they were rewarding us for the TD they took away when our receivers arms were held down in the end zone. Officials miss some calls. There are dozens of judgement calls in every football game. Not all are black and white. Get over it. The game ended several days ago.

Serious question: I think the only way Reilly is able to stay inbounds is if he slows way down and cuts behind the DB or if he pushes back and tries to run him over. If he does the first, he doesn't get to the ball. If he does the second, isn't he guilty of offensive pass interference?

Because we won't get this call in our favor in any stadium. Coaching can fix this first thing Monday morning.

Someones panties are in a bunch. You seem mad Nebraska beat a top 10 team. Nevermind all the talking heads that say it was the right call, or was simply a judgemebt call. But no, YOU know better.

He can stay in bounds if he doesn't run toward the sideline.

My panties are always in a bunch when I see poor coaching. Talking heads? My panties are always in a bunch when I see poor commentary.

No I'm not mad. Don't you understand I want to see Nebraska beat every team?

Deny Reilly angled toward the sideline. Running full out. ????

Good heavens, someone get on the horn to the coaches and tell them to immediately STOP all sideline patterns. And if you can go ahead and contact all offensive coordinators while you're at it, we would all be very appreciative.

I agree Reilly should have stuck to his route more and forced more contact before going out of bounds. Take away any question or interpretation. But, as it turns out, he got the benefit of the interpretation. It's a judgment call. Also, give the kid credit for beating him man on three jump/contested balls.

There are literally dozens of things our guys could have executed better. Same for the other team. That's pretty typical. I don't see the point focusing on this one teaching moment related to the winning play rather than the dozens of other less dramatic plays. It's not like floating out of bounds has been a systematic problem throughout the year.

Cry me a river. Who gives a rip.

He was angling away from the defender because that was the route. The defender wisely crowded the sideline then made contact with Reilly. Both had every right to be there. Then about at the 20 yard line the defender appears to make contact that causes Reilly to step out around the 15 yard line...Reilly adjusts and comes back in bounds and catches the ball as the defender gets turned around and slips. The covering official properly throws his hat to indicate Reilly was out of bounds. He then reports to the Referee that in his judgement he was forced out and came back inbounds in a timely manner and establishes himself back in bounds and catches the ball for a TD. The review was simply to verify there was contact (there was and the fact he was "angling" toward the sideline is irrelevant)...and that he re-established himself inbounds before touching the ball (he did). Proper mechanics to a tee. The only thing in question was whether the contact is what caused Reilly to step out. Don't know for sure as it was a JUDGEMENT call. Now that everyone in the football world has beat this horse to death can we move on?

You start a thread with a goofy premise and then respond like you dropped your pacifier...and I'M the crybaby. Whatever you say, infant.

When I think of goofy, I think of you.

Point out any poster who has denied he was headed out of bounds. ????

You'll be with the in-laws for many a bowl season night (watching someone else besides Nebraska) if our coaches don't correct this kind of thing.

S.I.A.P.

I have not seen anybody point out that he was running toward the sideline.

Do you know how completely silly you sound barking about one of our receivers running toward the sideline? I'm pretty sure that he was told long ago, in junior high football, that if you go out of bounds, you are disqualified from that play. Do you really think in your wildest imagination (and your OP shows a very wild imagination to say the least) he is going to go out of bounds on his own when we need a TD to beat the #7 team in the nation??? Use your head, for crying out loud.

Stop doing things that win games! Stop going 90 plus yards in 4 plays! We should have ran a post or flag pattern because that is what I was shown in midget football 30 years ago! Get off my lawn!!!

That "win games". We're 4 and 6.

He was going to run out of bounds. Without any help from the DB. The fact that the DB was there makes no difference. If he runs in a straight line, then there are a least a couple of ways the DB could have been flagged.

Listen I am mad that NU is 4-6, but I guess I don't get why you are mad about a player running a pattern that angles toward the sideline. If he just runs straight at the DB and runs him over isn't that offensive pass interference? Are receivers not allowed to run out patterns for flag routes because it is going toward the side line? You said yourself that there was contact.

He WAS NOT running out of bounds. For any proof you need, take a look at the slow-motion video up above. Reilly is leaning inbounds, and yet is still being forced out of bounds. This is not difficult to understand.

Give it up. The game's over.

The DB used great technique, had an arm bar and used the sideline as his friend.

Doesn't mean he didn't make contact and force the receiver out of bounds. Because he absolutely did. And by the way, that was good defense. It also was not illegal touching by Rielly.

Down out and up route, was it perfect maybe not but he had the guy beat down the line thus db forcing him out with hips. Reilly come back inbounds catches pass and we win the game that is what I see on video. GBR
