How is this extra year of eligibility thing going to work?

Right now, it looks like no one will be charged a year of eligibility for 2020 and that in 2021, the seniors from 2020 who decide to return won't count towards the 85. That's cool for this year and next year, but in 2022, if no one else leaves (I know we will lose a few as we always do), we would have 88 returning scholarship players. That means that if we want to get to 85 and sign, say 20, we'll have to have 23 leave with eligibility left, which is almost like a coaching change year. This will be happening nation wide and it'll be worse for FCS teams. Maybe the NCAA needs to have a blanket early retirement for all players for the next few years (like what Snyder and Brokop took) as the opportunities for transferring are going to be slim with everyone in the same boat. The only other possibility would be to move the 85 limit to 100 or something close to that, but I don't know how attractive that would be with budgets stressed as they are now.
