How bad is Raiola injury

I’m convinced that was a ploy by Rhule to not burn a timeout running him back out there. I don’t think he’s ever injured, just got dinged

I kinda thought that too. But didn't really help because I thought clock started as soon as he got off the field.

I also said on tv he was still in tent

I hate to be the next man up, however, he’s obviously struggling… HH ran the offense decent and deserves an opportunity should DR be injured… DK could also come in an not burn his red shirt… this team needs a spark somewhere. Satterfield unfortunately isn’t going anywhere so may as well try something

You sell your soul to get the guy and then your future is hitched to him. There’s a lot about his game that concerns me. I’m worried it won’t get better.

If he transfers good riddance, kid has talent but lacks some fire in his belly, also doesn’t know when to put some zip on the ball, you shouldn’t need to be coached that at this level
Harsh, but I do think the kid has fallen a bit too much in love with the touch pass and needs to remember he can set his feet and gun it too.

I’ve been surprised at how unathletic DR is. A bit of a statue…not quick…kinda thick. He wants to be Mahomes but doesn’t have all the same qualities other than a big arm.
I think he can move some, not great, but he's always looking for the humerun and is obviously banged up. A very Casey Thompson like season where the qb takes sacks instead of 3 yard gains.

He should take 15-20 pounds off in the offseason and try to improve his mobility. Mobility is almost a necessity for QBs these days. Haarberg was able to pick up a first down on the scramble which is something we've been missing.

Nothing will get better. Offensive coaches don't have vision or a plan. Just random Madden play calling.
Satterfield’s play design was ridiculous at times. Twice on run plays the scheme required Jenkins to loop around the frontside of the center and DT to try to block a guy filling the gap we running in to. Stupid. Will Shields in his prime couldn’t do that.

I’m not even going to start on 3 crappy pass calls from the 5 yard line. Unbelievable. They almost no chance of success. On top of that we’re running out of time and Raiola is standing there waiting for the call with the play club CTK ticking down. The ENTIRE stadium was yelling GOOOO! 😡

We took a fking TO and then the players stood in a partial huddle looking at the sidelines for the play, WTF!????

We came out of a timeout and had to wait for play calls a couple of times😕. I’m assuming they’re looking to see which defensive personnel are on the field but I think that’s just foolish.

I posted a few weeks ago that he will transfer. Too slow in the pocket to move around. Kid lacks heart and is finding out how hard it is at the next level. Add in bad coaching and this team is not a good fit for him. In fact not sure we are a good fit for anyone. Rhule is Scott 2.0.

I would be shocked if he isn't here next year. His entire family is now tied to the program. Brother. Sister. Uncle. Short of something crazy happening and Rhule gets fired, I don't see it.

I don't think hes too slow to move around. I think he is confused and unsure of himself, plus is obviously injured. I think this is what pressure does to a person. It's why making a bowl game was so important to show a tiny bit of progress. But Rhule f'd that up. Every DC we play knows Raiola, our receivers, and coaches have no answer for pressure. Only way to stop it is consistent running. Was the opposite last year. We needed those long PA passes to try and slow it down. This year need to grind them out or slip by that pressure for some chunk runs.

First NU offensive play of game, 4-yard run...then two passing plays and punt. Later on, first and goal from the 10, 5 yard run (actually 6, but piss poor spot). Then three pass plays from the 5 and turnover on downs with no touchdown. Either Rhule is lying when he says he wants to run the ball in the B10 and wear down teams in the 4th Q, or Satterfield is insubordinate to his head coaches' wishes, or Dylan Riaola is audibling when he shouldn't. I suspect Rhule has deceived us, he really doesn't care about establishing a running game and wants his OC to run some weird variation of a pro-style O.

I'd bet $10,000 that Rhule's hands are preacher soft.

only tough guys can produce tough teams.

Yep. If he was anyone but Raiola, people would being going ape$&^! about his footwork when passing sometimes, missing wide open WRs, holding onto the ball too long, and having zero scrambling ability. This is the polar opposite offense that Rhule preached about when hired about being a physical ball control offense that huddles, wears teams down, and beats them in the 4th quarter. Last years version was what most envisioned. Unfortunately turnovers and injuries hurt productivity, but numbers don't lie, and we did more last year with less. HH did great today putting balls that hit the WRs in stride, and as we've seen so far this year, they've struggled controlling them which has lead to at least 3 INTs. There's 3 guys on this staff that need to hit the road if we ever want to consistently win.

He literally transferred to 4 different high schools and committed to 3 different Universities. Nothing would surprise me, especially in the NIL era.

Yeah the 5 star crap has many fans blinded. Just say it...he has sucked ass for 5 games. If he was a 3 star, people would be calling for his job 4 games ago. HH sucks ass himself, but he deserves a shot now.

I think we stop fixating on getting to a cheez-it bowl and just focus on being better program-wise for the remaining season. Fire Satterfield and try giving play-calling duties to the current QB coach. Just one change for now.
Get Kaelin in there with game reps. He didn't look as polished in the spring as Raiola but he was a top QB recruit and he won't lose his redshirt. I would like to see how he has progressed.
I really feel we're now too worried about losing Raiola. Stop being so cautious about his feelings. No major program is going to baby him and if he transfers to another top program he'll be battling other top recruits and NIL transfers. He has things to work on and he either does it or doesn't.
Not having an effective running game makes us easy to stop. I don't think we have a personnel issue honestly. We have a scheme and play-calling problem.
We need more speed at safety and linebacker. Get the younger guys out there. We have very few interceptions and a lot of missed tackles at those positions. Let the young guys get extra game reps. We will need more speed against USC or it will be a long day.

All of those ties can easily be untied. From either side. You're talking about a 3 star, class of 2026 brother who hasn't earned the offer we gave him, a sister who would no doubt not have her job if it weren't for her last name, and an uncle who should have never been hired in the first place, let alone retained.

He literally transferred to 4 different high schools and committed to 3 different Universities. Nothing would surprise me, especially in the NIL era.

Yeah, I think the strength of their ties is outweighed by their propensity to move around seeking greener pastures. However, I'm not sure there's a team out there not named Nebraska that would be willing to throw a job for brother, sister and uncle on the pile, just for Dylan's services at this point.

His demeanor reminds me of Adrian Martinez, doesn’t exude a burning desire to win. Last guy we had that under center was Tommy Armstrong, definitely lacked arm talent but I always felt like we had a leader commanding the offense.

Raiola is struggling, but the problems on offense are systemic. Teams are auto blitzing against certain formations and Satt has done nothing to counter that. There isn't a QB in the nation who will sit in the pocket and get hit hard on every pass attempt game after game. At some point, QBs go to plan B which for Raiola is spinning out of the pocket and throwing it out of bounds.

Agree our OC sucks, I’m more concerned with how DR doesn’t fire the football to wideouts, he always lofts the ball with touch throws that are under thrown a lot.

No doubt Dylan has things to work on. He's struggling mightily right now. But we've already seen the talent that he has.

We have to have a running game- that's step one. Figure out a way to gain three yards a carry and get to 3rd & 4. Then we have options. I know that's not saying much but it would be an improvement from what we are seeing. Don't even think about lining up in shotgun with 10 or 11 personnel at this point. Teams are blitzing us on seemingly every play when we go to that. That one long pass we had was off play action from under center and Dylan had all day to throw.

Want to protect your freshman QB from a killer pass rush? Run the f'n ball from under center. Then run a little play action. Minimum, they need to take play calling away from Satt for the rest of the season.

You can’t see the receivers down field on tv so you assume they’re not getting any separation.. then haarberg comes in and stands in the pocket like a boss and hits multiple receivers in their hands in clutch time. Something’s up with raiola

The run game is a young QBs best friend and some of the times Satterfield’s run design makes no sense. I’m no O line expert but it was obvious that some of the plays asked a guard to do something Superman couldn’t execute.

The refusal to commit to the run game is maddening. Yeah UCLA has a good D line but that same D line is rushing your passer. Run the damned ball more often and you’ll help your QB.
