Frost and wife moving back to AZ?

I never understood the fascination with things like lifestyles of the rich and famous" type stuff. They are people with some of the same problems as anyone else and money/fame often create more problems. Money and fame seem to be the barometer which makes them a target for all to see and know their lives. It is such sport to speculate on what goes on in the lives of those who have a higher standard of living. It's called misery loves company. Who cares, it's their life.

Trev didn't break any agreements with Frost. The standards that were put in writing were for 2022 but clearly it was still in his contract he could be fired at any time. That is what a buy out is for, it is always the trump card in any contract. IMHO Trev was bending over backwards to give Frost a chance to succeed. We have no clue as to any personal expectations and resources provided in that area.

It was 70 most of the past week here in awful AZ. How was it in the paradise of NE?

My brother used to refer to our childhood friends who never roamed far from our hometown as “lifers.“ The lifers we know often seem to assume nowhere else compares with their hometown and conveniently minimize everything that sucks about their town as they bash everywhere else. CA is of course pure Hell and AZ summer heat says everything they need to know about AZ. Does that sound like anyone you know?

Worried about our state’s drinking water in 20 years? Maybe you ought to worry more about the droughts that may devastate NE in that same time period.

P.S. Harry Caray loved the Phoenix area and one of his daughters lives here. Maybe you should change your screen name.

I've traveled all over the world and lived in several states, and have family in Southern California. Unless you're a multi-millionaire and can live in a gated community or on the beach, it's an absolute shithole. Or unless you love spending hours a day sitting in traffic, breathing in smog, getting harassed by homeless people, dealing with left-wing politicians and their ridiculous laws, getting taxed up the ass, etc.

Phoenix would probably be fine to have a winter home if you were retired. Couldn't pay me to live there year-round though. I spent a few days there one summer, give me cold winters over 115 degree summers any day. Regardless, if I had a winter home, it would definitely be Florida over Arizona. I don't understand why anyone would want a winter home somewhere that doesn't even have any beaches.

When I moved there in 1982 it was pretty cool. Unfortunately a lot of other people moved and immigrated there and there were no more roads built (just two, 210 Freeway and 241 toll road). That was my main complaint, traffic gridlock virtually any time of the day or night. The other things you mention were out of control too. To be fair, the smog got way way better between 1977 (my first trip there) and around 1995. The catalytic converters, other smog stuff (PVC valves) and fume capture devices on gas pump nozzles really made a difference.

I'm going to guess the house is for her mainly and he's going to live there for awhile to dry out and try to get his life together.

If he still has coaching aspirations, I'm thinking she isn't going to go bouncing around the country anymore, picking up and moving every time there is a coaching change. They have kids too.

All depends on if he cleans up his act or not.

He could get cleaned up and restart his career, or he could just circle the drain and end up divorced, but I'm thinking that house is hers and he's just getting started on trying to put his life back together.

All the money in the world cannot erase the fact that he somehow found a way to become the worst Nebraska coach in history. He will keep that honor forever.

We have examples around us everyday of people who have a lot of money land in their laps that don’t have squat 10 years later. Scotties already got a great start to that by buying a McMansion in a housing market that is setting records on how fast prices are dropping.
Yet you seem to be bothered by it more than anyone and it is something that is out of your control. Move on

You seem worried lol

This is sooooooo true!

Not just for Nebraskans but for pretty much everyone that never leaves where they grew up.

On the flip side, my best friend grew up in Chicago and he moved to Cali, for about the first month he loved all the shit out there. 20 years later he has never been to the ocean, mountains or trails ever again. Basically just lives his life like he is in Chicago still, just without the snow.
So be it. That is one guy. Cali is a beautiful state

Could be.. watching a family member destroy themselves with alcohol isn't good, so I don't have a good outlook of people who have an alcohol problem. I kind of know where it leads to. However you can beat it. The secret is in admitting defeat. It's a paradox. Maybe it will help someone. It's been a very difficult 'holidays' being back to the states for a couple of months.. my flight out is in 2 weeks and can't wait.

Well I don't personally care specifically about Scott's personal life. I hope he and his wife are happy and able to work things out if/when they have issues.

BUT in general I think it's worth noting that more than a few wives leave and some of them later come back. So it can be both true that a wife left a husband and now is back with that husband. That happens.
Who cares. Not my life. Only someone else's which is none of my business

Yes, must by why he told Trev he wanted it in writing when Trev gave specifics on getting back to 5$ million a year from 4$ million on his contract! Plus all the extra benefits & perks that can with the job! Scott Frost only cared about Scott Frost! SAD, when good Husker fans I know, that don't know the information about Scott, and say, "I still really like him & think he is a good coach"!
Move on. Your butt hurt and jealous

Think about it. If he received $15M from us and was taxed at 50% of that and paid that purchase price price he only would have $2.1M left. If he put the balance in the bank in a CD, he'd only be earning $84,000 a year. Plus he would have to pay around $34,500 for property taxes. Doesn't leave much left to play golf the rest of his life at $4,000 a month...
Didn't we already pay him like $25 mil?

This is an impressive neighborhood.

Idk if this is the house or not.

Nothing wrong with staying in your hometown. Lot of people are very comfortable there and can live a good life. But just look at our state's brain drain stats. Young professionals from here are leaving in droves. Outside of the cost of living Nebraska doesnt have much to hang its hat on. Weather sucks, High taxes, Not much to do other than eat, drink, and watch sports. Which can be done in literally every other city in the country. There are good people here and good communities but Nebraska is a small state for a reason.

This is a beautiful home, but even if I had that kind of money, I'd look for something else. There are only 3 garage spaces and I would want to not be so close to my neighbors. Not sure what they mean by "pool house credit". The pool house must not have been remodeled with the rest of the house. And not sure what's with it selling in 2018 for $1.7M and now selling for $5.4M, Seems as if the buyer bought at the top of the market.

Too bad the county let people build so high up on Camelback. Sort of ruins the view.

We moved back from SoCal in part because we missed the seasons. Snow and ice suck when you have to drive to work or school, but if you are retired you just wait it out a couple days.

Detailed cost analysis of seven different states to retire to showed they are all about the same as far as combined taxes. They get you one way or the other. South Dakota and Nevada were the best tax wise for the sates I evaluated. NE, IA and CA were all about the same now that NE is not taxing Social Security.

I don't go out to eat much, don't drink, and watch very TV. But between exercising, family activities and volunteering, I'm busy, busy, busy....almost overwhelmed.

I've heard young professionals are leaving in droves but am too lazy to look the stats up if they can really be found. They sure are building a lot of upscale neighborhoods in west/north Omaha. Somebody must be able to afford these homes.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm asking you to please consider one man's poison is another man's meat.

Nope totally get it. People gotta find a place that works best for them and their families.

I though all the retirees went to Florida

I looked at some of the other stuff in the area, either the pics don't do this justice or something else is going on.

Holiday parties would probably be fun there!

When they run out of water in the next 2 years and start telling you how much water you can use inside your house you’ll be able to buy houses for half what they’re selling for now.

Yeah, that isn't happening.

Good...

I love me some capitalism, but I hate what has happened to the housing market. I fear many Americans won't get to experience home ownership. Don't know what the answer is but if home prices fell (and I don't think they will) I think it would help make a lot of dreams come true for aspiring home owners and families. Kids should have a yard to play in. People with home are more inclined to work towards a better job...it's good for marriages to pick out garden plants together. Etc etc. Apartments are great when you're young...not so much when you get to a point of having a fam.

Speak for yourself. My wife went and bought too many flowers over the weekend and didn't plant them all. Now I'm bitching at her that she better plant them all before they die or she just wasted money.

I am not moving to either one, but I would take some place more temperate in Arizona like Prescott, Show Low or Flagstaff over anything in Florida. I guess for all of you who live in the Midwest it is not much different than your summer weather, but I don't like the humidity at all. Add in all the hurricanes, bugs, snakes, gators and creeping critters that habitat Florida and that makes it is no place for me. My in-laws live in North Carolina. There is nothing there I want. Then I think Florida gets all the crazy lunatics from the Eastern half of the country. Lastly, I guess you either like it or you don't, but I prefer the Pacific Time Zone because live national sports come on so much earlier in the day than they do in the East. If I had more money I would have a place north of San Diego for a second home. I do have a Nebraska born and raised goddaughter who owns an Airbnb across the street from Mission Bay that is pretty nice.

When I was a kid, I loved summer. Now Fall with football and upland bird hunting and winter through May are my favorite times of the year because I can ski. My last day of skiing was May 19. Heck as soon as my wife retires, I am spending July and August in cooler Montana.

Yup. Top five causes for divorce: money problems, infidelity, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and disagreements over plants.

Hope the woke don't wreck it

Loved living in an apt, no maintenance, had a pool, gym, everything was updated for me...

I miss that. I like the idea of getting my house paid off though.
