Fred Big 10 Co-Coach of the Year

You guys ran him off because you suck at football and fan support.

Wait til next season when your games vs anyone not being NU/OSU or Michigan only have 18,000 fans in the stands.
If you're trying to insult us, at least try to be somewhat accurate.

Chris Collins was more deserving than Painter.
LMAO. Sure he was. Collins winning COTY last year reminds me of this tweet.

Apparently we are to believe that Northwestern is such a crap basketball program that merely going over .500 in conference and making the NCAA tournament (neither bar is very high) is some sort of miracle.

Also, last year Purdue was not ranked to start the season and picked middle-of-the-pack in most projections after losing a top 10 draft pick, an all-conference big men, and their starting point guard from the previous season.

In case this award being announced today didn't clue you in, it is decided at the end of the conference season.

Yes, historically NW is such a crap program that what Collins did was a miracle.

Same with Nebraska - the single worst P5 hoops program in the country.

Get the net, bud

I am 100% accurate.

Your football fan base is lame. That is why you are posting here and not on whatever board is out there for PU.
You'll find plenty of my posts on our board. This is the first time I've been here in a long time and my objective wasn't to come argue with the likes of you. Your insults don't even hit because they aren't based in reality.

Thank you for demonstrating your basketball acumen.

They are not insults, they are facts. I am not trying to insult you.

And I won't find plenty of your posts on your board...because I don't go there.

You talk like you are a white guy playing a Native American in an old western that would be on WGN on a Sunday afternoon 30 years ago.

"Well this land here, this land here is mine, I bought today, from the bank" Then your reply is up there in the bold.

He is from Indiana, they think they are the only ones that understand basketball.

Been to college basketball games in all of those places except DC. North Carolina and Kentucky would be at or near the top of my list also.

not having NY in the top 3 is a gross oversight on my part.

Did Shawn Kemp live in a lot of these cities at one time or another?

Who cares... The voters felt they were both deserving and both received the award. I am more upset that the Media has 5 Iowa players listed earning honors and Gary and Williams weren't on there. This is why we need to win in the NCAA Tournament, because it is clear people have not watched Nebraska at all this year that get to vote on this stuff.

Remind me who won head-to-head between Northwestern and Purdue last year? Who went further in the NCAA Tournament?

The Coach of the Year should go to the coach who most exceeded their team's expectations. Northwestern was predicted to finish 13th and finished 2nd.

Our basketball coach wins a cool award and the thread about it turns into a bitch-fest.

Sounds about right.

Shares with Painter....weak.

Those in the know, did Fred get any type of bonuses for his COY and or how the team did so far this year?

Haven't been over here all season I don't think. Was headed over here to congratulate Hoiberg and this was at the top of the board.

I have no problem with Hoiberg getting the award, which he did. But like I said earlier, I don't see how Painter doesn't merit the award either season where Purdue won the conference by 3 games in back-to-back season. If it were me, I'd have voted for Painter last season and Hoiberg this season but since Northwestern has perpetual crap expectations and they get a ticker-tape parade and a BTN special everytime they make the NCAA tournament, Collins got it last year. I think Painter got more votes this year because of the cumulative effect of their performance over two years and the fact that Collins got the award last season.

He was the 430-something player in his recruiting class. Is part of coaching not developing players? Does the coach not get credit for that if a lowly-rated player does well in multiple seasons?
