Apparently we are to believe that Northwestern is such a crap basketball program that merely going over .500 in conference and making the NCAA tournament (neither bar is very high) is some sort of miracle.
Also, last year Purdue was not ranked to start the season and picked middle-of-the-pack in most projections after losing a top 10 draft pick, an all-conference big men, and their starting point guard from the previous season.

I'm just pleasantly surprised Izzo didn't get a share for courageously the overachieving Spartans to an 8th place conference finish.
Been to college basketball games in all of those places except DC. North Carolina and Kentucky would be at or near the top of my list also.

Who cares... The voters felt they were both deserving and both received the award. I am more upset that the Media has 5 Iowa players listed earning honors and Gary and Williams weren't on there. This is why we need to win in the NCAA Tournament, because it is clear people have not watched Nebraska at all this year that get to vote on this stuff.
Remind me who won head-to-head between Northwestern and Purdue last year? Who went further in the NCAA Tournament?
The Coach of the Year should go to the coach who most exceeded their team's expectations. Northwestern was predicted to finish 13th and finished 2nd.

Ah. If it was your opinion, should have just said so. My opinion is the best places to watch high school basketball is anywhere in Indiana. College basketball is Duke, Purdue, or Kansas.
