For those who have said Miles is facing tough conference competition..

The comment was about his ENTIRE schedule just not the conference schedule and part of the problem for the B1G is that there a lot of teams with similar talent that are beating up on each other in conference..

The B1G isn't top loaded like it has been in the past, more parity this year is evident by 13 of the 14 teams ranked in the top100 RPI compared to 8 for the Big 12.. Big 12 has 5 teams in the top 35...

Firing coaches every five years isn't working. As far as I am concerned Miles can have a lifetime contract. Maybe holding onto a decent coach who can build a program over time is better than firing one guy after another hoping to catch a shooting star.

SPOILER ALERT: no shooting star is ever coming. If we did get lucky hiring some superstar he'd bail out for an established power the first chance he got.

This year's schedule is unusually difficult because of a road game at Kansas and what was effectively a road game vs. UCLA. Whether you're a Miles critic or you think he can do absolutely no wrong, i would think everyone would agree on that. But Miles' job performance isn't going to be evaluated based on those two games. I think Miles will be back next season but if he isn't, it's not going to be because he didn't beat KU and UCLA.

But if those two games were replaced by cupcakes they would be 12 and 12 so who cares… Also most big 10 coaches aren't jumping to get another job plus they can't jump from conference team the conference team as Jim Delaney sort of doesn't allow it. So if they get a good coach you start winning he's probably not going anywhere unless it's a blue blood program and that's a great problem to have

His teams have always played like they are poorly coached. Lots of turnovers, no movement on offense. We've had poor shooting 3 or 4 years in a row. If we do bring him back another year, we'll still have the same poorly coached team with a poor record and the talent he was able to recruit will be wasted.

Next year's basketball team will CHANGE how Nebraskans view the basketball season. We will soon be looking forward to the BB season with as much anticipation as we do for football -- well, with a lot more than we do now. I am the guy that keeps telling my friends, "Tim Miles will do for Husker basketball what Bob Devaney did for Husker football. In twenty years, we will have a statue of Tim Miles in front of the Pinnacle Arena." Love BIG 10 basketball. Go Huskers!!! Keep drinking the Kool-Aid.

I would be thrilled if we had a superstar coach that ended our NCAA drought and got poached away later by a powerhouse school. Sure beats a coach with 3 consecutive losing seasons.

The only reason I don't want Miles fired this year is that I don't want Marc Boehm involved in selecting another coach. Boehm needs to be replaced after this season. Bring in someone from an NBA front office to oversee the program like we did with the football program.

IF 13 months from now, Eichorst decides a change is needed, Boehm wouldn't be involved. That is over his pay grade with this AD. That said, I believe Miles has 2 years to show what he can do. I'm very patient and like the progress in recruiting but if he puts up a couple of more years like this one SE will have no choice. I'm really not all that disappointed given the injuries and the inexperience but those won't be good reasons barring injuries to multiple players in the coming years.

imo, only, I get he has been here for what 5 years, who will come here to replace him, it aint going to happen, fire him and we have another 5 years of nothing, he is what we have andhe is a good coach, he is getting recruits, live or die with him, but to replace him means we are rightback to the middle, does no good for anybody.

I really hope we beat Penn State on Tuesday. Northwestern has already passed us, Rutgers beat us, and we CANNOT fall behind the Penn State basketball program

Maybe I'm ignorant or just a glutton for punishment. But I believe Nebraska Basketball is going to be really good in a year.

They are going to be 10 players deep for the first time that I can ever remember. There may even be some former top 100 guys like Palmer or Gill who don't play that much.

I can certainly appreciate why any fan, donor, or alum would want to get rid of Tim Miles. But Nebraska hasn't had this much Young talent on the roster with some redshirting studs since 1990.

Also keep in mind they have 14 losses but have only really been beaten soundly twice. Once @KU and the loss to Michigan State. With the youth improving, depth expanding, and the infusion of a legit big time big man in Coleman, I believe Nebraska will make a serious run next year.

Coleman will allow Jordy more time to develop. It will also take pressure off of Morrow. He can solely be a 4. Jacobsen's minutes will decrease and he suddenly becomes more valuable as an effort and rebound guy off the bench. Roby and Horne both have tremendous upside. A year from now, they won't be making freshmen mistakes. McVeigh has suddenly become a legit shooter. With the added Depth, he can almost solely be a shooter only. Watson, Taylor, Palmer, and Gill will give Nebraska the most experienced back court they've had in years... And while I won't really count on a freshman to do much with an experienced roster, there are a lot of recruiting experts who believe Nana Antenken is going to be a big time player.

Now one thing is for certain though. Miles must figure out how to eliminate mind blowing losses to inferior teams. There is no reason for Nebraska to take Wisconsin to overtime, beat Maryland, win at Indiana, but lose to teams like Gardner Webb or Rutgers. You win those two games, and not lose the heartbreaker to Ohio. State and you're talking about a game over .500 and the NIt.

And Iowa got beat by Omaha. ##it happens.
And McCaffery has taken Iowa to the big dance three times...including winning games while there. If Miles had his resume right now I don't think anybody would be complaining. You don't want to hear it because Miles is a native from South Dakota..if Miles doesn't get canned this year he's out next year if he doesn't produce. No chance he survives next year if he continues to rack up the losses.

We will have the talent to get back to the big dance. But, so will every other Big Ten team sans Rutgers. Even with what we have returning we will be picked to finish near the bottom of the Big Ten next year. The Big Ten as a whole is pretty young, next year it will be a bounce back year for the league. We aren't going to win on talent alone and even the kool aid drinker Steve Sipple is starting to call Miles an average game day coach. If Miles is not canned in March we will see if the off-season produces any changes on offense and if we can figure out how to defend the three. Something Miles guaranteed would be fixed this last offseason.

Nobody has attempt to make this argument. There is enough proof to bring him back for another season. There is enough proof to can him after next year if he doesn't get it done.

A good start for Miles would be to win the next 4 out of 6 games which is a good possibility.

Penn St-W
@ tOSU-W this time Morrow will be helping out down low where we ended up losing in the 2nd half of that game.
@ Mich St -L Miles has had success in East Lansing but Izzo's teams get better near the end of the season be a tough game for a upset.
Illinois-W this team isn't good away from Champaign.
@ Minnesota-L we would have to play like we did earlier against Indiana and Maryland to knock off the Gophers, I expect a down to wire game.
Michigan-W First thing Eichorst does is make sure The Wolverines don't get a shoot around in the Vault the night before like they pulled on us when we were back there in January... This game is a big pay back game.

Really need to avoid being one of the last 4 seeds and play on Wednesday.

Usually you know when it's time to give a coach the boot, but now is not one of those time. Give Tim your typical Nebrasketball non con schedule and he goes 10-2 or 9-3 and people aren't calling for his job. Instead, we played the most difficult non conference schedule in the country (and were competitive).

Move onto conference play and we are also competitive in every single game. Yes, the heartbreakers are frustrating and the inability to win a close game is also frustrating. This whole fire Miles and start over again is so lazy and easy to say when the wins are not flowing in, but I feel strongly that patience will pay off in this case.

Yep. We are actually one of the more experienced teams in the conference, not the opposite as so many here believe. Webster, Watson, Jacobson, McVeigh, and Morrow all played significant minutes last year. Very few other teams in the Big Ten have 5 experienced returners like we do. The OWH posted this the other day about how young the rest of the league is:

▸ Iowa’s 11-man rotation includes five freshmen, four sophomores and a junior. Peter Jok is the only senior.

▸ Minnesota’s top nine players consist of three freshmen, two sophomores and three juniors. Richard Pitino loses one senior, role player Akeem Springs.

▸ Penn State’s top eight is senior-free. Three freshmen, a sophomore and four juniors.

▸ Indiana’s top 10 looks like this: three freshmen, four sophomores and three juniors. No seniors.

▸ Maryland’s top four guys consist of three freshmen and a junior.

▸ Of Tom Izzo’s top nine, seven are scheduled to return, including four freshmen and two sophomores.

▸ Eight of Ohio State’s top nine players should be back — only Marc Loving graduates.

▸ Northwestern’s top seven has one senior, role player Sanjay Lumpkin. The other starters are two juniors and two sophomores.

▸ How ‘bout Purdue? Its eight-man rotation has just one senior. Maybe sophomore Caleb Swanigan leaves for the NBA, but the Boilers should be fine next year with three or four senior starters.

Play the typical non-conference schedule and the team would be 12-12 overall, and we would be having exactly the same conversation. I'm for giving Miles another year or two, but nobody here is calling for his head because he lost to KU and UCLA.

This year has been really rich in terms of getting great game experience, competing with top level opponents and seeing young guys develop in front of our eyes.

Roby has huge upside as he is freakishly athletic. Jordy is really developing some nice post moved. Morrow is showing signs of becoming a double-double machine. Watson doesn't shy away from big moments. Jacobson may end up coming off the bench but he's developing a nice game of offensive boards and a mid range jumper.

If you can't be excited about the future of this team then you're just grumpy.

This team will be better next year, that is a fact, but that is true regardless who is coaching. The question is whether tim miles is the guy to get the most out of them. So far his record and performance is dismal, and not any better than docs. As another said, i dont hold losses to the likes of ku against him.
I dont know the answer about miles, but i do know the excuses get old. We should expect better from this program, and thats on miles. He will get another year, im pretty certain.
