Fire this shit staff ASAP.

Nope. Doesn't work that way. You hate any part of the team, you hate all of it. This board is littered with cowards who love to sit behind their comfortable computer and take potshots at the team and give up on them and can't act like a decent human being and come back and admit they were wrong.

Only if you admit that this series of "I Told You So" posts makes you the most irritating f**k on this board right now. I'm not going to be lectured by some twit about giving up on a team that had a 3-4 record at the time. They've shown they aren't a very good team, so it doesn't come as a surprise that people would be skeptical.

This has nothing to do with me being some big Mike Riley fan. What's going to happen is going to happen. I have no control over that. I just want us to win, period, with no qualifiers, no ifs and our buts, and let the chips fall where they may. People like you can't say that. You try to cover that up by saying he's done, period when in reality you know that every win makes that harder to be the case. And that scares you-so you don't want us to win. Just admit it openly.

Losing to Northern Illinois and being blown out two weeks in a row in prime time sealed his fate. Whatever happens at this point has no bearing on the future. Unless we somehow win the conference, he’s done. I hope we win them all, but also understand that’s not going to happen with this clown heading the ship. We are in worse shape than we have ever been. Stop trying to be Super-Fan, you look like an idiot.

Irritating? Well, I find it irritating to not hardly even be able to read this board over the last few weeks because my favorite team gets run down constantly and harshly. So excuse me if I'm happy at having something good to talk about and gloating a little bit over those people.

Yes-if you didn't pick us to lose and/or give up and act like the game was over when it wasn't. I'll respect somebody who said before the game, "I think we'll win, but I'm not sure it's going to mean much". But I can't stand people who loudly and gleefully predicted us to lose and then turn around and say winning didn't mean anything. It means we're better than you thought-but you just don't have the guts to admit it.

I'd rather go down believing in my team and look like an idiot doing so any day over giving up on them.

Man, what a relief. If you go look at the Purdue prediction thread, I picked the Huskers to win 21-20. Does that get me the password into the Johnny SuperFan Club?

I don't disagree entirely, but I think most people here predicted a win. Just like a close loss to a great team can show improvement, I.e. "It's how we look and play etc." in a loss, it's sometimes how we look and play with a win against a team that hasn't been playing so well.
I know you like to cherry pick posts, including mine, and I think that a win especially with how we've done lately is the real story here, I understand why people are still less than thrilled with the product on the field.
As for the "fans" that wanted to lose, I'm glad they are upset tonight and they need to evaluate their fandom.

Then we're not really that far apart, at least on this.Of course I'm not going to say that we looked great. There are obvious problems. The running game is atrocious. But when you can win a game when your running game isn't working, I'll take it. At least it's nice to have something positive to talk about for at least a week.

Good. Glad you had some faith in the team.

I'm not absolving him of or judging him for anything. I'm just happy to find somebody who has some faith in the team because I don't think such people are very numerous on here.

I get that you’re upset and all but worst shape we’ve ever been in? That’s a little over the top.

If that’s true, it doesn’t matter who comes in next year... we will be lucky to win 3 games next year even with Frost. Which I don’t buy at all.

I have no problem with being upset... just think worst shape ever might be a little much...

People are realists. If something has an offensive smell, sound, or visual they will comment truthfully. The truth is...our team isn't very good. They are very average. And I think the major reason why is because we have a subpar coaching staff. Nothing wrong with stating the facts.

Not sure about worst shape but if record has anything to do with it that's an accurate statement. We have an under talented, poorly developed, mentally and physically soft football team. And on top of it the current coach has been recruiting for a passing team and we will be run heavy in the future and we have no RB's

Unfortunately Moos moves to slow and isn’t proactive. But that’s what happens when you hire an ADs whose biggest concern is Metamucil

lmao, thanks I needed that. 6 days on the job and he is called slow, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume sarcasm.

Yes it does work that way. I can be sickened that NU has sunk to the level of Purdue and not hate the players at the same time.

The second worst shape we’ve been in, in my life was 07, we hired a mediocre coach following that season and won 9 games. So unless you think we were worse off in ‘03 when we canned Solich, or in ‘14 when we canned Bo, I don’t see this getting worse. When have we been in worse shape?

If you are happy with a 1 point win over 3-5 Purdue, congratulations!!! Enjoy the great win! A lot of us expect a lot more out of this team and program. I’m happy we won, but disgusted by this coaching staff. They have lead this team to the lowest lows in program history. This may be the last win of the season, ENJOY!!!!
Exactly.

I would call both time frames similar... but I actually was thinking pre Devaney. Which is way before my time, but things were worse then. I think Riley will leave some pieces in place for the next coach. He will need to coach them up.

This does rank up there as bad as it’s been in decades, but worst ever is over the life of the program. I do see your point though, and agree it’s as bad as it’s been in 60+ years...

I was born in ‘84, so Jennings was before my time, too, but from my understanding Delaney turned the ship around within a couple years. Did not go backwards to move forwards. Before my time, too.

Yep-you just keep telling yourself that you don't really hate the players and maybe you'll really believe it.

I picked 31-27 NU still changes nothing. This staff needs to be done.

This and 07 are comparable. Hard to say until the season plays out.

Ohh but you all said they would roll us by 20 we're they really shit or dose it just fit your story now. Seems like there's a lot of edgy people who can't be happy with a win we all knew would take some marbles to pull of . What happened to the many on here that said they wouldn't root against Nebraska Yeh I get the line looked awful but not one kid stop fighting. Gates had a rough night but in the fourth quarter played better that's not what someone that quits dose GBR I'll be rooting For Nebraska next week too. Hats of too Lamar Jackson warrior keep ballin son!!

Having faith in the team and rooting for the team are two entirely different topics. Would you have faith in a boss that made 4 poor business decisions out of the last 8 that came across his desk? Even though you would root for him to do well, you wouldn't necessarily have faith in him based on his track record. That's how most people on this board view this team and coaching staff.

It was nice to see the players keep fighting and get the win. As for getting rolled by 20 vs winning by a point theres not that much difference to me. Either one says this is bad. NU should be rolling Purdue by 20.

You are too funny, you were making love to HCMR in the Summer. You would be the absolute last person I would consult on any matter.
Yep. I drank the kool aid last summer. Loved what I was hearing about Tanner Lee, the offensive line, and the new defense. I am always an optimist before each new season and I think that is a good thing, not a bad thing. A true fan should always want to be optimistic about his team.

But my mind changed as I watched this season unfold. I think that happened to quite a few posters. Even still, I haven't been part of the "Fire Riley now!" brigade and I am on record saying if he goes 7-5 he should be retained. So I am hardly a wild eyed loon. I just think the team looks poorly coached in some key areas and that that should not be happening in year 3. We look like we are regressing not progressing.

But you are very wise not to consult me on anything. I am usually wrong about everything. Ask my wife.

Who is Delaney? We had a great coach named Bob Devaney at Nebraska.
