You also have to wonder if his injury history played a large role in declaring for the draft. Why risk playing another year in college, in which you could re-injure your knee and never get a shot at the NFL. Probably best to leave while your 100% healthy, despite his draft slot being fairly low. It's amazing how we've all just become numb to the fact that some guys actually don't WANT to be in college for 5(+) years.

I would agree with this. Might be his best shot. You know what the answer is if you don't ask/tryI think its a grown up move. Dude's been thru it physically, he has an NFL body so he's going to get a shot...give it all you got and see what happens, and if it doesn't happen for you, then you have your answer and its time to move onto the next phase. Love it.
....and kudoa to him for batting thru the injuries and I hope he latches on somewhere and draws a nice check.
Just seems like a poorly calculated decision from a 20 year old who lacks perspective. I guess time will sort it all as usual…
2nd paragraph very plausible. I think we're fine at teTrue, but I don’t understand it. I would’ve stayed I college forever if they let me. I felt that way when I graduated and I still feel that way 25 years later. Then throw in the fact that Fidone, a “local” product, can probably make more NIL money at NU then NFL… it makes zero sense to me.
IDK, maybe Holgerson/Rhule told him he wasn’t going to play much if he didn’t improve on “XYZ” and he decided this was his best possible financial decision? Just seems like a poorly calculated decision from a 20 year old who lacks perspective. I guess time will sort it all as usual…
Lacks perspective? How could you know that? I think it shows great maturity..

Undrafted is my guess6th round maybe? Undrafted free agent? Seems like anything in the 1st five rounds is gross financial misconduct. We’ll see I guess…
If you shop for groceries on Sundays, you may see him there as the tallest bagger.Good luck to him, hope to see him on Sundays.
IDK? Time will tell. He could’ve, best case scenario, got a 6 figure NIL deal and have a break out season next year and improve his draft stock. Or maybe, he can battle for an undrafted free agent spot and league minimum salary. Maybe not even a roster spot and time to sell insurance…
He could be making the best decision, but if I had to bet on it, this looks short sighted. As I said before, time will tell.
I agree.Good luck Fidone!
People are delusional. He was totally misused. Of course he has to majorly improve his blocking, but has NFL size and good to very good hands. A lot of people seem to be overlooking that he may have gotten enough of a positive draft response to take a chance.I do not know if Fidone will get drafted, but as far as his productivity, he is just a few career catches at NU shy of Jack Stoll, who played 4 years (one Covid shortened) and not 2 like Fidone. Stoll is currently on an NFL roster.
Unfortunately I don't think he's going to get a great reception in the NFL draft. Always seemed like he had great potential but he never delivered much this year. His best bet IMO would have been to go to a lesser college team even without a huge NIL deal and prove his talent with some very productive seasons.Crazy must not have found a team
this is a very fair pointA lot of people seem to be overlooking that he may have gotten enough of a positive draft response to take a chance.
Productive? He caught 36 passes in 2024 and 25 passes in 2023. The NU record for a TE is 38. That was after last being injured in the spring of 2022? People have lost perspective with Fidone. I would much rather have guys trying the draft then going to some other team and tearing it up.Unfortunately I don't think he's going to get a great reception in the NFL draft. True. But how many yards. Seems to my recollection alot of catches were behind the line of scrimmage or of the 1 to 2 yard variety.Productive? He caught 36 passes in 2024 and 25 passes in 2023. I would be pretty surprised if he got drafted. Some teams won't even have him on their draft boards due to medical concerns. But he's a good kid and his pedigree as a top HS player helps him at least with name recognition. If he tests really well, somebody will bring him to camp to take a look.6th round maybe? That's what I thought. Couldn't he stay at NU or transfer somewhere for a six figure salary? I don't like his chances in the NFL. Maybe his NIL salary was actually going to be pretty low here or wherever he went?Fidone, a “local” product, can probably make more NIL money at NU then NFL… it makes zero sense to me.

Very few yards after the catch. He was one of those "make sure you catch it and fall down while you do it" guys. Takes a long time to turn up field, gets knocked off his feet easily.True. But how many yards. Seems to my recollection alot of catches were behind the line of scrimmage or of the 1 to 2 yard variety.
Now a lot of that can also be attributed to play calling. But yac weren't great
Exactly. Maybe he will get better coaching in the NFL to try and turn him around, but he was a bad TE here. Mediocre hands and blocked like Taco Johns famous Potato... OLE!!!!Very few yards after the catch. He was one of those "make sure you catch it and fall down while you do it" guys. Takes a long time to turn up field, gets knocked off his feet easily.
I should have said in the current year. Obviously he was highly sought after in earlier years when schools were trying to lure him away.Productive? He caught 36 passes in 2024 and 25 passes in 2023.
