Fidone to the nfl

I think that is probably the wrong assumption. It was never reported that he was entering the transfer portal, just that he was leaving and all reports that I heard was to the NFL. This news is just confirmation of a rumor really.

6th round maybe? Undrafted free agent? Seems like anything in the 1st five rounds is gross financial misconduct. We’ll see I guess…

It's amazing how we've all just become numb to the fact that some guys actually don't WANT to be in college for 5(+) years.
You also have to wonder if his injury history played a large role in declaring for the draft. Why risk playing another year in college, in which you could re-injure your knee and never get a shot at the NFL. Probably best to leave while your 100% healthy, despite his draft slot being fairly low.

I think its a grown up move. Dude's been thru it physically, he has an NFL body so he's going to get a shot...give it all you got and see what happens, and if it doesn't happen for you, then you have your answer and its time to move onto the next phase. Love it.

....and kudoa to him for batting thru the injuries and I hope he latches on somewhere and draws a nice check.

True, but I don’t understand it. I would’ve stayed I college forever if they let me. I felt that way when I graduated and I still feel that way 25 years later. Then throw in the fact that Fidone, a “local” product, can probably make more NIL money at NU then NFL… it makes zero sense to me.

IDK, maybe Holgerson/Rhule told him he wasn’t going to play much if he didn’t improve on “XYZ” and he decided this was his best possible financial decision? Just seems like a poorly calculated decision from a 20 year old who lacks perspective. I guess time will sort it all as usual…

I would agree with this. Might be his best shot. You know what the answer is if you don't ask/try

2nd paragraph very plausible. I think we're fine at te

Lacks perspective? How could you know that? I think it shows great maturity..

IDK? Time will tell. He could’ve, best case scenario, got a 6 figure NIL deal and have a break out season next year and improve his draft stock. Or maybe, he can battle for an undrafted free agent spot and league minimum salary. Maybe not even a roster spot and time to sell insurance…

He could be making the best decision, but if I had to bet on it, this looks short sighted. As I said before, time will tell.

If he hits the weights hard and shows up with some good measurables, he might get drafted. He has at least shown that he can catch the ball and run some after the catch. I'm not convinced that he cant' get drafted - then again, I don't know what his 40 time or his bench reps are.

Some people don't want to be 26 and in college...

He easily could have found a team. Sounds like he bet on himself.

I do not know if Fidone will get drafted, but as far as his productivity, he is just a few career catches at NU shy of Jack Stoll, who played 4 years (one Covid shortened) and not 2 like Fidone. Stoll is currently on an NFL roster.
