Dylan Still Talking with Kirby/Georgia

So let’s see. In the course of about 10 days, we’ve gone from:

—McCord is N
—Fleming is N (package deal with McCord)

To:
—Guess what? Raiola is N, too! And maybe Princely!

—“Nebraska is about to wake the eff up!” tweets from outside the program

—National buzz about Nebraska making waves for the first time since Frost was hired

After that:
—McCord is out… but we didn’t really want him anyway (guy was totally scared to compete with Dylan, way too immobile, has a helicopter dad, etc).

—Fleming is out… but his dad says we have nice facilities, so it’s ok.

—Princely is out (sorry, little bro, but buzz off: when the storied tradition of Ole Miss football comes a callin’, you’d best answer that phone).

—Raiola is definitely still N and stuff; it’s just that he doesn’t want to steal from the Volleyball team’s thunder by announcing anything ahead of time.

An hour ago:
—Raiola is still a Georgia lean, talking to Kirby, and hey—the kid might have just come back to Lincoln to glom free wrestling and women’s basketball tickets and spend quality time with his family at Christmas. What’s the big deal?

To now:
—Dylan is still N… probably. Maybe.

————
So after all that, what do we have as of right now (8:30 CST in Lincoln)?

—no commitments

—smoke and mirrors, with no fire anywhere in sight

—and—if we’re really lucky—the return of a banged up Casey Thompson.

Helluva ride so far, and easily some of the worst fun I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
Post of the week. A mere recap, but well ruined and relevant. Crazy week...

I guess we just have to hope for a happy ending. It could still happen. But I can’t think of a crazier 10 days of Husker football; the rumor mills before the Frost and Rhule hirings were nothing compared to this.

Sort of feels like being 5-3 and being a win away from finally making a bowl game, doesn’t it?

Stupid burning bridges......

Or not......

(I like to put .........behind my sentences........seems mysterious........or indecisive)
If you recall in the movie, them boys created bridges after others were blown up and built a final bridge with their enemy. "You know what's in that bank, Baby...."

Another fine flick lost to the sands of time.
It is not lost. Still my favorite of all time. Following Kelly's Heroes is the Dirty Dozen, The Longest Day, The Undefeated, Father Goose, Going My Way, McClintock, Stagecoach (1939) among others. These are my standbys when I prepare for bed and allow my wife's cats to purr and sleep on my lap in my recliner.

Good post.
Bad content but good post

Georgia’s starting qb was expected to stay for next season but now seems to be a good bet to leave for the NFL. That certainly couldn’t matter, could it? (Hint: Of course it could.)

I have heard today he's still a Georgia lean at this point. Heard that today. Pretty disappointing if true and this stage of the visit. Buckle up Rhule and Donny. If this goes sideways ope. Things are gonna get nasty
I would bet the farm that he's staying with Georgia from my source

I just do not have a good feeling about this kid. If he stays with Georgia, after almost everyone saying he is going to end up at Nebraska, & costing us the Ohio state QB, - that would suck big time.

Pretty good timeline, but, you forgot the death of Bob Seger in there.

I don’t think Rhule and Co would’ve allowed all this nonsense if it wasn’t a done deal. If he kicks us in the balls again, I don’t know what to say.

I still feel like we’ve got him locked but this does make me a little nervous.

Raiola in touch with Georgia
Regardless of what happens, for any player considering Georgia there's certainly the appeal of the wins the team has had on the field. BUT there's also a warning sign that players should consider as well. And that's the large number of their players entering the portal. Whether i's due to lack of playing time, broken promises, a poor culture or something else it's obvious a number of players find out they're not happy being there.

My gut says he's staying with Georgia and that's the reason why he's not yet announced for Nebraska. Call it cold feet. He had a last minute doubt about where he wanted to go, but now he feels better about Georgia.

The thing that makes me most upset about this whole situation (if it plays out like this), is did DR's last minute dramatics cost us the OSU QB? Did we tell the OSU QB to keep looking elsewhere because we thought DR was in?

There is no meh. If they don't pull this off things will get nasty. Don't kid yourself.
Care to elaborate? Is there going to be a rally outside Memorial Stadium to fire up the mob or are we talking about anonymous posts on message boards becoming more unpleasant?

We still have an Elite 11 4 star QB in this class and 2 return g QBs who have started games. Yeah Dylan would be a great get but anybody who doesn’t get why he would choose Georgia is delusional.
As you know, it would be HOW it happened that would be the most upsetting. On one hand you would have Dylan and/or his agent getting word out that he was going to NU. And this would be the third time that he spurned NU. On the other hand, you have Rhule & Co. who haven't done anything to calm the waters- seemingly passing on a 3rd team All Big 10 QB transfer in the process. And then there's the mega hype coming from the sports media that makes things worse like it always does.

Boosters will be upset. they will get there money back, but the credibility of the staff will take a hit. There’s also the question of Donovan Raiola as I don’t know if he’ll have a job if Dylan doesn’t sign he’s LOI. Don’t kid yourself thinking he was retained because of performance, and that raise was essentially a finder’s fee for getting NU back in the mix for Dylan.

I still think Dylan signs, and He, the Staff, and recruiting outlets will continue to milk this till Wednesday.

The Boosters getting upset could be a real concern, but it depends on the personality of the booster. If someone is a major booster to the program after all of these years then, rest assured, those boosters are as loyal as any German Shepherd on the planet.
