this is the same story as every bowl season for the B1G
gets all its winning done nice and early then gets embarrassed in the big games where nobody opts out and no coaches have been poached
started 4-0 last year, too - meant exactly nothing
B1G is an elite conference off the field in negotiating rooms with media companies (I say this all the time, and it's very complimentary). it just stinks at winning championships (what elite on-field conferences do).
And if Notre Dame ever feels the pressure to join as a full-time member, they'll be even better.
Conferences don't win national championships, teams do. If Michigan or Ohio State wins the national championship, it means that a team from the B1G won a national championship. The conference didn't win jack.
But during the regular season, you always say how great the SEC is top-to-bottom. And how weak the Big Ten is top-to-bottom.
But when the Bowl results come in, you always change your tune and say that the National Championship is all that matters.

those two statements work perfectly in parallel (B1G is weak, national championship is all that matters)
all the pinstripe bowl wins in the world will not change those two facts

Bottom line, Michigan and OSU can change the narrative TODAY. Especially OSU. Beat UGA and at least then there would be something to truly debate. The -5.5 line is the best indicator that OSU should make a game of it.

Wanting to see the B1G do well is not the same as loving it.
