Do bowls count when judging conference strength?

I would bet a lot of the SEC games were against other SEC teams. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Of course they wre. Just as every other conferences record against AP ranked teams were also mostly against each other. Tells you how many ranked teams in each conference.

Wish I cared about it but I don’t have “BIG” pride as it were. Maybe when we aren’t trash that will change. As far as bowl standings, the portal and opting out for the draft have surely changed the look and feel of bowl season. Not so much regarding who cares and doesn’t care. The kids on the field care plenty. For now, the only games that really matter and will be remembered with regard to conference supremacy, are the playoff games. Argue about everything else to fit your own narrative. That’s what message boards are for….

Hate to break it to you, but BAMA DGAF about playing your little team in that piss ant bowl. There season is already a failure in their eyes. Good luck playing in your superbowl... 🤣
You win the ignorance post of the day award. Both teams are playing at full strength with no opt outs for a reason, the game is important to them. This is the best non-CFP bowl matchup.

As for "superbowl," correctly "Super Bowl," the game is the best bowl game match ever played by K-State, even more so than beating Donovan McNabb in the '98 Fiesta. But it's certainly not as important as the three earlier B12 championship wins over OU, Texas, and TCU.

Now do that with just out of conference ranked teams.
It wouldn't be worth the time as most teams play 1 team worth a shit in non conference games.

But here are the conference vs conference (no bowl games) records.

ACC vs B1G 2-2
ACC vs B12 2-2
ACC vs P12 0-0
ACC vs SEC 3-6

B12 vs B10 2-0
B12 vs P12 2-0
B12 vs SEC 2-2

P12 vs B10 2-2
P12 vs SEC 0-3

B10 vs SEC 1-0

Totals
ACC vs others 7-10
B12 vs others 8-4
B10 vs others 5-7
P12 vs others 2-7
SEC vs others 11-6

Funny coming from one of the village idiots that troll this board....

Has the B1G lost a bowl game yet this year? Not that it really matters, just curious.
right on time

last day for big ten fans to get their punches in before the actual games start

Same story as last year.

Big Ten 2-0

SEC 1-3
exactly right!

b1g wins all the meaningless early games because none of their players/coaches are good enough to opt out/get hired elsewhere & their opponents are at best half-strength

SEC waits until the games matter

welcome back and congrats on yet another irrelevant and unnoticed 9 win season!

I'd generally say no outside of the playoff. Hell even bowls like the Rose have quite a few opt outs these days.

So the Big Ten will surely win the national title this year, right? Since they have two teams in the playoff, it's a can't-miss.

That's always been your slow-witted explanation for why the SEC wins it year after year.

I think if a conference wins or loses the vast majority, it can be used as a data point. A conference going close to .500 doesn’t really mean anything, IMO.

Like clockwork. I thought none of these games mattered? I guess they matter enough for you to make excuses for when it doesn't match your narrative.

starting tomorrow, they matter

you may go back and find many, many posts of mine stating the B1G gets its bowl winning out of the way nice and early, prior to NYE

2 bites at the apple this year. we shall see

Big 12 is officially a G5 tier conference.

Legitimate chance they only have 1 team win their bowl game. God I miss playing in that soft conference sometimes.

I’m actually a Nebraska fan. Which means, by extension I like to see the B1G do well because it benefits NU. Especially if the Huskers get good again.

I was the same way when NU was in the Big 12 even though I personally despised that conference for how toxic it was, particularly towards Nebraska. Now I can openly cheer when Big 12 teams lose.

Imagine hating the conference your team plays in this much. Especially when your team was brought in to improve the conference and has done nothing but add to the perception of the Big 2 and Little 12.

For the record I followed that other poster’s advice and googled it. And no, the B1G has not lost yet.

Only degenerate brainlets can convince themselves that the B1G is inferior to the Big 12.

They’ll disregard earlier bowls as not mattering, even though it clearly points to conference depth & coaching, then they have to ignore that the B1G has had nearly double the CFP appearances as the Big 12.

B1G could lose the rest of their bowls and they’d still finish with a better bowl record this year.

Helps that the B1G has the only school the media has awarded with 2 CFP births without competing in the conf title game

Let me guess - B1G is the best hoops league because it has been gifted the most ncaa tourney bids?

Depth & coaching - ironically the two things most impacted by hirings/opt outs, 2 things early B1G bowl winners didn’t have to deal with while their opponents were ravaged

We’ll see today where the conference stacks up against its peers (2 titles in 52 years, zero hoops titles in 2 decades - all despite having the most chances)

Also - cheering for the B1G has absolutely nothing to do with NU’s success (obviously). You’d think adults would understand this, but, alas…

So which games count then? How about the regular season? Can we factor that in?

Head to head the big 12 is up 2-1.

Careful, he lives in Oklahoma (very very dim bulb)

Has probably been working on that post for weeks

Today will be a good test. The second best teams in the B12 and SEC, then the first in the B12 and BIG, all fully loaded. There shouldn't be any debate about that now or afterwards.

Well, despite being the most top heavy league by far, it still gets into the playoffs every year

Other teams doing well isn’t a requirement for our success. Obviously

Can confirm, bowls only matter if they confirm your biases.

My biases waiting to be confirmed:

Big 12 most underrated

Pac 12 most unwatched

Big 10 best coaching, tv deals, and parity, but overall overrated

SEC best players, fans, and reputation, but overall top heavy and overrated

ACC joke conference

Is regular text illegal in Kansas?

For @AVeritas : Is regular text illegal in Kansas? I gotta say, after four years in Lawrence, everything seemed just a bit askew, so maybe I'm just noticing it now that I'm living in a sane place.

Also, have a great time watching the 'Cats in a bowl. All we have are hopes and memories. I'll have to wait and see the teams on the field before I determine whom I want to win. I am tired of Alabama's awesomeness, but I'm more jealous of K-State's conference title.

Coherent, wise take.
