They had quit. Unless you define giving up sacks against a 3 man rush basically prevent defense “not quitting”
I can only imagine he was trying to get a TD pass for O’Brien but he nearly got him killed instead.

I saw nothing wrong with letting your no#2 QB get some plays.
A better coaching move than calling 3 time outs to "teach the team not to quit" would have been coaching the team at some point in the previous 3 years to block someone.
Yeah if there’s one takeaway message from this game it’s that the Huskers never, ever quit. Good Lord.

He should have been trying to get his backup QB TDs when Tanner Lee went full-on Bauserman early in the year, not at the end of his team getting their assess pasted by an also ran program like Minnesota.
That was one of the few things I didn't have trouble with. At some point in his career, Patrick O'Brien is going to need to throw a late TD pass to win a game. It was a good teaching opportunity for him.

Yeah I saw no problem with it at all. Get your backup qb some decent game experience.
I like the never quit mentality but the fat lady already moved on to her encore.
Riley just addressed it. Lee is in the concussion protocol this week and unsure of his status for Penn St. O'Brien has had limited reps and wanted to get him snaps in the red zone. he knows it was not popular and hated to do it but felt in necessary for O'Brien.
