Dana will be calling plays

this is not true at all.

good, self-aware coaches say things like this all the time.

slithering, bloviating, Napoleonic gasbags don't.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but what coach has said this?

"I know our marriage is going through a rough patch right now, and I'm divorcing you sometime before Christmas, but let's stay married for the time being. You can sleep in the basement closet but Tim from my old work is moving in and sleeping with me for the next month. Please stay out of his way."

Your wife can stay at my place if you and Tim need some privacy. I got you bro…

how emasculated can one man get?

good grief, Rhule. this is approaching Salem-levels of cruelty.

I thought they were friends.

also - what was the point of hiring a 2nd OC this off-season only to pass him over for a guy who hasn't been part of the program for more than 5 minutes?

I have more questions than answers. as usual with this regime.

I don’t understand why Satt is still on staff and I said that the day they officially brought Holgerson on board. I suppose Rhule is trying to do his beast to salvage Satt’s career and get him a gentle landing somewhere else. (poor suckers) But really, it just makes Satt look a cuck who take multiple demotions on the chin and ask for more. I don’t love the look/move, but if we get better on offense I couldn’t give 2 shits that Rhule kept Satt around to polish Holgerson’s balls for a few weeks.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but what coach has said this?
here are a few quotes from Nick Saban (ever heard of him?):

"My feelings, it's not about me," he said as he shut down a long and winding response. "My feelings are about everybody else. I serve them in what I do, and I feel like I failed them by not doing enough to help them get what they really wanted."

"I feel badly that I could not have done more to affect our players to be able to play with more consistency, play better, not make some of those mistakes," he said.

"I feel responsible for everything that didn't go right."

and that was just after losing a single game to a rival. I can only imagine what he'd say if he allowed his program to spiral into such disarray that he's bringing in a new play caller off the street for the stretch run.

Clearly by your response I'm not wrong on your expectations. I'm not sure why you're bothered by it?
saying I don't allow for people to change their minds is projection and patently false.

I don't appreciate baseless accusations from the feelings-first cheap seat crowd.

I mean

Rhule spent all offseason laughing at the notion his hand-picked OC was atrocious.

he's spent his entire tenure talking about changing the culture, being physical, etc.

now - Year 2, after 9 games - we are not only seeking outside counsel but we are attempting essentially the "Face Off" surgery with our offense.

a guy who has never worked with Rhule or any of his offensive staff or any of our offensive players will now call plays with like 8 days of prep time.

everything about this screams "PANIC!" in North Stadium.

even if this works and we go 3-0 while averaging 50 ppg, what the actual f*ck is our Head Elf doing?

This is a good move. In fact, I would argue that since this happened during a bye week Nebraska should claim a mini-offseason title!

I'll repeat myself, I want Rhule to succeed. No one is perfect. Rhule hasn't failed yet and there is still time to get it right.

if this is how Rhule treats his friends, I'm glad I'm not one of them.

and I can't imagine how his "connections" feel about his handpicked guy who after seeing the way he's treated him publicly.

Jerry Sandusky was Rhule's position coach in college, lest we forget.

the result is employing 3 OCs and letting the one with the least experience on Rhule's staff and with Rhule's players run the show?

do you hear yourself?

this isn't a Come to Jesus epiphany, Rhule is throwing up his hands and waiving the white flag.

"Here, Dana. You try."

do you have a quote from him stating that?

because 10 days ago he was telling the public and his team "You are Satt"

we are nearing the "Rhule should resign" portion of our head coaching life cycle. not even 25% of the way through his contract.

perhaps our AD should propose covering Memorial Stadium with a circus tent as part of the next renovations.
According to his press conference which I just listened to, Rhule called holgersen on Sunday and said can you get up here which he immediately did. Then after looking at things on Monday and Tuesday, Rhule asked holgersen for his thoughts and holgersen replied that he thought he could do it and work with it. Rhule said let's do it. So I take that to mean Rhule’s been contemplating it for awhile but the ucla loss kicked it into urgency. Official decision was made Tuesday when holgersen said yes

Because both of the guys Rhule hired sucked monkey balls.

So Rhule makes the move many posters have been calling for him to make but assumed he wouldn't. And now those same posters are triggered by the exact move they were calling for. That sounds about right.
Satt is still employed.

Rhule just reloaded the excuse train with yet another pass-first play caller.

literally none of this is the "exact move" people were calling for.

Year Three here we come! I'm sure we'll magically be super physical and great in the 2nd half/4th quarter.

Maybe Dana can teach Matty the Elf when to call timeouts/challenge plays, too.

1) He never saw where he said, "If I had to do it all over again, I would do nothing the same." (What Rhule should be saying according to you).

2) That quote was back in what? 2022? He was 15 years into Bama. Rhule is in year 2 at Nebraska.

3) Saban has also said, "Today we got a lot of guys that had the 'poor-me's,' whatever that means. You get into your feelings and you don't do things you need to do them to have success, and when you get that way you don't create good habits and that's not a good thing."

Sure sounds like he throwing his players under the bus to me.

It's almost like coaches will do both, publicly get on their players AND take blame themselves.

3 is another thing meek Rhule would never say.

instead he looks at a locker room packed with losers and says "I'll never chase a guy from the program."

I’m here for the chaos regardless if it results in wins or not.

Rhule literally has a new OC (changing his mind on Satt) and you've continued to complain about that decision by saying things like;

Kinda think it’s simutaneously a good move and desperate. We will definitely see something different on Saturday.
The timeline of making the change to OC:
“I called Dana on Sunday. I asked him to come in and consult and help out with the hope that this would work out. He got here Monday and Tuesday and felt like he could call it, so I said ‘let’s do it.’”

The reaction of Satterfield and the coaching staff and Holgorsen’s thoughts on them:
“I’m just worried about right now. Marcus is about as good of a man as I know. He could’ve said ‘hey, fire me. Give me my money, I’m going to go home.’ He didn’t. Trust me, I get it, it’s a results business. But you’re still trying to teach some life lessons to our guys. He humbled himself and said ‘what do I need to do?’ The first day, Dana (Holgorsen) said to me when he watched practice, ‘hey, you’ve got really good coaches. I’m watching EJ (Barthel), I’m watching Donnie (Donovan Raiola), I’m watching Satt (Marcus Satterfield), I’m watching Glenn (Thomas), I’m watching Garret (McGuire), there’s great coaches here.’ We just have to find the things that our guys do well and let’s just do those things and eliminate all the other stuff. Satt is out there coaching the tight ends, Garret is coaching the wideouts, Donnie is coaching the o-line. Glenn is coaching the quarterbacks, EJ is coaching the running backs. Anything that Dana needs, they’re helping him.

I think these quotes from today’s presser validate those sentiments.

Rhule replaced Satt with Super Satt.

all while stringing his buddy up in the town square.

while he may have changed faces, the philosophy remains.

he hasn't changed his mind about anything. we'll continue to operate a pass-first, finesse offense.

sorry you can't see it. maybe more feelings will help.

Yeah given what we've seen, I'd have more faith in Dana running our offense than the two yokels we have sucking up university $$'s. What faith do you have that Sat or Thomas can turn this around? Obviously, Rhule doesn't believe they can.

You could probably argue that Rhule needs to go since he is the root issue. Terminating him before the season ends would be a difficult sell for the AD given we could still win enough to be bowl-eligible.

So yeah he's been told to get right/wins because the end is neigh.

3 is basically what Rhule said last week in his presser. He spoke about everyone being under fire on the staff but also said our players need to make plays. They need to take 50/50 balls. They need to break tackles … etc.

Exactly! I have been calling for Rhule to do this and stated that I did not think he would. And here he did it! I am thrilled. I have no idea if this is going to do anything for our season this year but I do think it is a positive move and bodes well for next year.

I have absolutely no doubt this change will be the Talking Point of the Off Season (best time to be a Husker fan).
