Dana will be calling plays

How is this not accepting responsibility - he’s publicly stating his guy was not the right guy to get stuff done?

What would you have him do if you are not happy with this move, knowing there is no Time Machine?
do you have a quote from him stating that?

because 10 days ago he was telling the public and his team "You are Satt"

we are nearing the "Rhule should resign" portion of our head coaching life cycle. not even 25% of the way through his contract.

perhaps our AD should propose covering Memorial Stadium with a circus tent as part of the next renovations.

I have not seen a move this ballsy since that time the mechanic decided to keep his shop open late to help those two hot girls out. Dude just mentioned he had been working a lot and was really stressed and BAM next thing you know, they were both sucking him off.

If you have to replace your #2 - 9 games into the season with a guy not coaching I guess I feel like it’s self explanatory that you F’d up.

Or at the very least that Satt was the top pick all along - but either way still an F’ up that he was picked.

oh okay. so he didn't publicly accept responsibility.

I'm stunned.

Is this the first sort of cutthroat big boy program first move by a Husker HC in forever???

I loved Bo but he was notorious for hiring friends and young guys.
Billy C was tied to Cos
Riley was forced to can Banker
Frost seemed sort of forced to can/hire some guys.

I mean

Rhule spent all offseason laughing at the notion his hand-picked OC was atrocious.

he's spent his entire tenure talking about changing the culture, being physical, etc.

now - Year 2, after 9 games - we are not only seeking outside counsel but we are attempting essentially the "Face Off" surgery with our offense.

a guy who has never worked with Rhule or any of his offensive staff or any of our offensive players will now call plays with like 8 days of prep time.

everything about this screams "PANIC!" in North Stadium.

even if this works and we go 3-0 while averaging 50 ppg, what the actual f*ck is our Head Elf doing?

Not sure I agree with this... he made his bed when he Hired Sat, which, yes, is 100% on him, however, Sat wasn't his first choice as we all know. Going into this year with momentum of bringing in Dylan and having things with the "appearance" of moving forward it's not a good time to fire your OC. I do however think that is exactly why he tried brining Dana in earlier to help Sat but Dana knew his worth and wasn't going to settle. This year, things went shitty and now he can make a move... it sucks but "What If" things went the right way and you shit can a guy on a what if??? it goes both ways and when millions of $$$ are involved one has to be cautious on when to make the proper moves...

I'm taking this as a positive to right the ship that should have been started from day one on the Offensive side of the ball...

This is great news and a great sign of hope. In my humble opinion this signals the end of Satterfield. This is promoting Holgorsen to offensive coordinator in all but name only. Rhule is just trying to help Satt save some face here and finish out the season with some dignity. Then at the end of the season he will either be canned or allowed to resign. Rhule might even be working with his contacts to get Satt a job somewhere else so that when he leaves it will look like he just decided "to take this new opportunity". Whatever happens, it is now clear that Satt is toast. Rhule knows his own job depends on it.

His last presser he said everyone was under fire. Including himself and then he said he was willing to do anything to change the outcome of the season.

What would have to do for you to say “great move - we needed that” - would he have to offer his immediate resignation??

"I know our marriage is going through a rough patch right now, and I'm divorcing you sometime before Christmas, but let's stay married for the time being. You can sleep in the basement closet but Tim from my old work is moving in and sleeping with me for the next month. Please stay out of his way."
Like staying together for tax break purposes? lol

Wow, really going out on a limb there! Dude has only been demoted twice in 16 months.

I am starting think that Dana is going to have sex with Satts wife, in front of him, and Satt will be like "Yeah, I mean, I guess it is okay, anyway I am really excited about coaching TE's"
Satt is a white guy for … ?well. Nm

What’s the angle from the anti-Rhule coalition? Ability to sit back and yell when he does nothing and also an ability to sit back and yell when he does something?
See my post above. And I am very much in the anti Rhule crowd. But if he can do something radical that involves canning a coach friend of his then it is a good sign and I don't mind saying so. My loyalties are to NU football and not to my own ego or status as a "wise poster" or some such shit. I call it as I see it. Often wrong. Sometimes right. And I think this is a great move and a positive sign. We will see what happens. Hopefully great things!

he should stand at the podium, put his hand up and say:

"It is my fault and my fault alone that we are in this position. If I had to do it all over again, I would do nothing the same."

he's not wired to say things like that, unfortunately. he will slither and wriggle and apologists will let him.

Any other time and you let him go. But with the new rules, you don't have the limited coaching staff. And Sat's paid through the end of next season anyway. So if he can be helpful and not be a disruption, why not.
How can it not be a distraction? No way that's acceptable to me that the previous guy stays on another year if I'm Holgersen.

No coach in America is going to say that. I get what you are saying, but that doesn't happen. He had to do something, why not try and see if it works?

Anyone else already hate Halgersen? I just don't think he has "it"
He was 61-41 at WVU and had a 12-2 season at Houston. He was a bit of a scamp in his earlier years with the boozing.

It probably means Rhule is giving Satt a chance to find a new job when the head coach churning moves into full gear.
How does that work? You think any competent program is actually going to be fooled by the fact that a guy is being forced to resign at the end of year due to performance issues rather than being fired?

The only way to accept responsibility is to fire the guy. Instead of cleaning up the mess, this is just sweeping it under the rug.

I guess I shouldn’t assume he’s fired, but I am assuming that wrongly.
lots of inferences and assumptions from you ITT

we get it. we all want and hope and wish for NU football to succeed.

reality is, there's no bigger shit show in the country and this move underscores that fact.

This is the most reasonable scenario I've read so far.

Kong doesn't like it when people aren't crazy specific. And if they are, he expects them to never be able to change their minds.

another soft amateur shrink here to sing Kumbaya

I will never apologize for having high expectations for the Head Football Coach of the University of Nebraska. I will never apologize for expecting that man to come in with a strategic vision and a plan to execute it.

lastly, I will never apologize for thinking spineless pussies like you are an embarrassment to the Greatest Fans in College Football.
