Oregon is 17-12 and in 7th place in a league who will probably get fewer teams in the dance than the B1G.....Won't happen but I wish it would
But he's also built that program into a consistent contender: Five straight NCAA tournament appearances and made the Final Four last season. He's got a good thing going there.Oregon is 17-12 and in 7th place in a league who will probably get fewer teams in the dance than the B1G.....

“Open that checkbook”Makes perfect sense. Once you've taken a team to the Elite Eight and the Final Four in back-to-back years and been rewarded with a 7 yr/$20 mil contract, coaching Nebraska basketball is the next logical step in one's career.
I'm still laughing...good one!!!!Makes perfect sense. Once you've taken a team to the Elite Eight and the Final Four in back-to-back years and been rewarded with a 7 yr/$20 mil contract, coaching Nebraska basketball is the next logical step in one's career.
Pretty sure Miles has bought himself another year even if we aren’t dancing. Also...at this point I think just about everyone would agree that Oregon will likely be included in the FBI investigation. I think Altman is a very good coach but doubtful that Moos would touch him with a ten foot pole at this point.
That...and with Oregon popping out of nowhere in the Bowen sweepstakes I think they are probably in trouble once the investigation is finished. And this will continue to linger IMHO. I'm not saying it should, I'm just saying I think it will.

“Open that checkbook”
“From Nebraska”
“He could have a statue “
“Nebraska has so much D1 talent, he’ll never have to leave the state.”
Maybe not the last one, but I’m sure you’ll hear all of the others. If it was that easy, Nick Saban would be coaching Kansas.
As much as I like the idea, it would be a selfish and sort-sighted move on the part of NU if that scenario did play out. While not as visible as the football program, this would be like firing a football coach after a 9-win season. Just has a bad look and most coaches worth their salt wouldn't sniff Nebraska if there is the perception that they don't support success (no matter how bad the next year looks). As good as 2019 may be, 2020 could be as bad. Miles will want to leave after next year knowing that 2019 is his best shot to act like he’s a good coach. I hope the Husker admin don’t fall for it. Let Miles win next year and GTFO afterwards on his own will. School will be that much richer not having to pay for buyouts.
What "bigger school" might hire Miles? And if NU chintzes on the extension, it is signalling to all "splash hires" that 20 wins at a non-roundball school isn't good enough. I suppose NU can take another ride of the hot mid-major hiring circuit. Then I see a bigger school hiring Miles after next year because of it, if Moose doesn’t give him an extension this year.
The conundrum I see with Miles is to extend or not extend. I say no, no way in hell do you give that man an extension. However, a real possibility is next years team actually does well, considering the starting lineup
G -Watson
G- Palmer
F- Copeland
F- Roby
C- Jordy
That’s maybe the best starting 5 since 1991, and all upperclassmen, a real edge we can have over most teams... anyways, I see that team possibly doing well. Then I see a bigger school hiring Miles after next year because of it, if Moose doesn’t give him an extension this year.

Next Nebraska basketball coach and maybe this year if Nebraska doesn't get into the tournament.
Except for the fact that a school that has money from success in a different sport could open the checkbook for a sport that they are horrible in.Except for the fact he is from West Virginia.
.500 at Nebraska. you may want to check his career numbers before you throw him in Mike Riley territory.I don't see Miles getting a better job than Nebraska. What big-time program is going to hire him? He has a .500 record and zero postseason wins as a D-I coach. He's pretty much the Mike Riley of basketball coaches.
Yes I am. My post is my “best case scenario”.You are assuming they call come back.

Unless the Huskers have a complete melt down, Coach Miles will be coaching at Nebraska next year. JMO.Next Nebraska basketball coach and maybe this year if Nebraska doesn't get into the tournament.

I know where he’s from, but West Virginia football isn’t comparable to Nebraska basketball even.
Reading one line from a persons post does not make a relevant post for you.

See Collier, BarryI’m banking on 2019 to be a career year for Miles and one of the best, if not the best, year in Husker hoops. If all guys come back, next year has the real makings of (dare I state it), a sweet 16 year.
If Miles does that a bigger school might think “wow, Miles must be an amazing coach, he took Nebraska to the sweet 16.” Happens every year. Some coach does well in the tourney one year and the next thing you know people are labeling him the next Coach K.
Yes I’m shooting for the best case scenario here but it’s all we got and it really could happen that way. Of course we need everyone back. Palmer is the only one I’d worry about but he’s crazy if he leaves this year. He’s looking at maybe a 2nd round pick this year, and that’s a big maybe. He could make a ton more $ by staying one more year. Remember NBA contracts aren’t guaranteed. And he’s probably still looking at NBDL time if he leaves
Would your rather play in the NBDL making not that great of $, playing in front of 500 people every night in a gym that’s smaller than some college teams practice gym? NBDL players don’t really scream “Rock star”.
Unless he decided he should get out of town before he's asked to leave....Delusional, is thinking he'd leave Oregon to come to Nebraska now. We missed that boat when Collier was hired. He is going to turn 60 this year. His time is limited. I would seriously question his intelligence level and sanity if he gave up what he has there to come to Lincoln.
not about "Miles love". It's about Altman's own crappy season this year and the baggage he would be dragging with him. Not once did I claim Miles is a better coach than Altman so try again. You can love Tim all you want. But don't let that get in the way of being rational.
Dana Altman is a better coach than Tim Miles. Period. Anyone saying otherwise is delusional.
I thought Creighton was his dream job...I hear Nebraska is Altman’s dream job.![]()
