Hope in the near future, we play USC. Give us a couple years developing DL's offense with a proven pro style QB and time for Diaco to get our boys back to a nasty/physical blackshirt D, would love to see if we can compete with their star studded classes.USC building an elite class
And they live down the street from USCThose kids saw USC win an unforgettable Rose Bowl and Nebraska get buttspanked by Ohio State and Tennessee.
Those kids saw USC win an unforgettable Rose Bowl and Nebraska get buttspanked by Ohio State and Tennessee.
I'm sure it had everything to do with that and nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that both those "kids" are from L.A.
Of course it was because they were from L.A. Lewis and Johnson were a bike ride's distance away for Clay Helton whereas The Williams Bros. had to take a jet there. All I'm saying here is:
USC end to the season > Nebraska end to the season
Those "kids" also pay attention to the programs they are being recruited to in terms of who wins and who doesn't.
Dammit, if we had just beat Tennessee, Lewis would have been a bit more interested and picked NU.
You're probably right, beating Tennessee likely would not have made a difference at all. But it's hard not to look at how Nebraska and USC's seasons were inverses of each other. They started 1-3 and won 8 straight. We won 7 straight then went 2-4.
Nebraska: 2-4 in final 6 games (3 blowout losses)
USC: 6-0 in final 6 games
On the other, Lewis was also quoted today as having said about Riley and staff, "It was hard to tell Nebraska no" so it's hard for me to completely accept that he was a shoe-in for USC. He visited Lincoln 3 or 4 times.
