Coaching changes

You mean like USC against Penn St thus far, I'll gladly take that.

C'mon man, you know we'll NEVER, and I mean NEVER have the level of athleticism that USC has on the field. But...we can develop physicality and toughness. Iowa does it with much lower ranked classes than us. It's time to start seeing it on the field.

I hope our coaches 'get it' soon, or we are going to be going through another coaching search again in the next couple of years.

Youre right we never will. But we dont jave to. Lots of teams do worse than usc in recruiting but have better results.

Iowa isn't as physical & tough as some of you think they are. Yes, we got absolutely dominated by Iowa in all phases of the game. It doesn't make them this unreal physical team that I've read about for the last 8 or so weeks.

Wisconsin is tough & physical and we match up very well with them. Iowa dominated us this year, it happens, see Clemson over Ohio State.

Ranked classes are moot, it's the "talent available to play", for a lack of better phrases plus other factors. As a starting point, go match up the 2-deep between the two.

Agree 100%, this team and every team over the last 5-10 years is lacking passion, leadership, heart, toughness. Nice guy MR probably isn't going to instill that. aka look at Oregon St during his tenure.
I also agree, MR probably has at most 2 more years to start proving he can make progress. Honestly, If he goes .500 or below next year he has a good chance at being fired. The fans, the boosters, and powers that be don't want another 5-7 years wasted like on Cally and BO. Riley will not have that luxury. He has 1-3 years, if he doesn't at lease make it to a BIG10 title game he will be gone.

Youre right.
Which makes us getting pushed around by them all the more terrible and glaring,
We lack physical toughness to an unreal level.

Agreed that Iowa isn't the most physical team I've seen, but I think their OLine and DLine coaches get more out of their available talent than about any coaching staff I've seen. Ferentz knows how to coach OLine.

Admittedly, having Tommy at less than 30% made our OLine even that much less effective, but I would really like to know just how injured we were up front late in the year. I would have to think much more than we were letting on.

I think our problems on defense run deeper than just personnel. I know losing 4 DTs last year hurts, but our gap responsibility seems to be erratic at the LB level, and it seems like there is a disconnect with the secondary at times too. Even last year when we did have more talent up front, there were multiple breakdowns.

I'm still trying to figure out how many teams played Ohio State pretty tough, and we just got manhandled from the beginning to end.
