Casey Thompson good to go for Spring ball

Sorry, I'm just a better American than you. While you were sitting at games. I was merely serving my country for 24 years. Thanks for your service to the Huskers. You should feel honored!
Thanks for your service. Yes, I would 100% agree, you have done more for our country than I have if you served. People that were calling me an Iowa fan and a troll sure haven't stepped up with what makes them a great fan. If you want to take a post that wasn't directed at you personally, then so be it.

Too soon in my opinion. I suspect he could easily aggravate it by trying to win the starting job. From the team's perspective, we need him to be healthy and available next fall. I don't think he keeps the starting job though.

If Sims is really as inaccurate as people claim than I would much rather have CT. I'm so done with having qb's that can't hit open receivers.

Glad to hear CT is doing well, and I will leave it between him and the coaches, doctors, and dad..... if he's ready to go by the time our first game rolls around...labrum repair on your throwing shoulder sure seems to me like it should take a helluva lot longer to heal, so while I'm doubtful, I'm also rooting for him and hope it works out.

What we don't need is a proven QB like CT being unavailable due to chronic injury. NU should be able to win some games with either CT or Sims, but the other QBs' wins are not likely.

I'll rely on Satterfield and Rhule to determine the pecking order of the QBs, but I do think IF you've gonna lead this ballclub you better be able to run a little bit as the QB.

We all know CT can run the ball, he just seems reluctant to do so unless it's the actual play call. He seemed o be effective last year when called upon, I just can't understand why they didn't call for the QB run more often than they did.

I think this all goes along with Satterfield's philosophy of trying to sync up the offensive play calls that don't put one position group (i.e) the offensive line in a position to do something that is really difficult to do considering the play call.

There will be plenty of time for all of us to criticize the play calls, but so far what Satterfield has said makes a lot of sense given the O Line's difficulties over the last few years. I expect to see a much more mobile offensive line than we've had in the last few years.

Even huddling up seems like a novel concept after the last few years. Hopefully, that cuts down on the illegal procedure, jumping offsides, and other issues that have plagued the offense. It could be the beginning of actually playing and not beating yourself with stupid mistakes. We shall see.

This 100%. So many things that didn't make sense during the Frost era. CT taking hit after hit in the pocket but refusing to scramble was one of them.

Yeah. Look at the post that started all this. I was making fun of the people that said CT's career was over when now he's back for spring ball. But yeah, I'm the troll. Whatever fits your narrative.
Nobody said his career was over. The issue was whether or not he should be throwing a football so soon. Since none of us are his surgeon I guess we’ll have to trust he’s not rushing back too soon. From his side of things I’m sure he thinks he needs to participate in the spring if he wants to start this fall. He may view it as he has nothing to lose.

Really depends on the type of tear he had in the labrum. Been there. Never had it fixed but I wasn’t a college Qb. Hope it goes well for him. He’s a warrior IMO.

Might not have been here but I did indeed read message board posters saying he would never play again.

That’s my problem as well . I am on both boards and it surprises me how few on the boards as you say don’t even go to games and hold season tickets. I know this is a message board and everyone has a right to their opinions. But when you don’t support the program financially your opinion doesn’t weigh as much as someone’s who does financially support it.
100% agree. It's a different level of investment when you're paying for season tickets plus paying a forced donation. Non-season ticket holders get frustrated and they just stop watching for a few games. If a season ticket holder can't attend a game when the team is shitty then now they are eating a $45 ticket plus another $35 per game for the donation.

But back to original topic ...Casey gives Nebraska best chance to winning division this year. I hope he’s the man, and takes first snap this season.
I will say that I'm excited as hell about Sims, as he reminds me a lot of Armstrong. After the qbs we've had since him, I've come to really appreciate him and players like him.

But CT is a trooper and is a known quantity in the passing game. Unless we're only going to throw 15-20 times a game, I think CT gets the nod if he's indeed healthy and can prove to stay that way throughout the off season.

Not to mention that it's his last season, whereas we still have a couple more years to enjoy Sims. Unless of course we get DylaN!

Which shoulder had the surgery? If it’s his throwing shoulder this sounds too fast. If it’s his non-throwing shoulder should be OK as I’m sure he’ll have green jersey, pants and helmet. Nobody will touch him all spring.
Fantastic. That's exactly what we need is another spring QB competition in green jerseys.

I guess it just depends on what our OL looks like. If it is actual dogshit like last year, I think I prefer Sims because of his feet. I love having that option of defenses thinking they need to defend the QB. If our OL is decent and we can establish a run game and actually have time to throw it..... Might lean Casey, but still like having Sims as a running option.

Let’s see what happens this spring.. One does thing better than the other and the other does things better him..

Really don’t think Sims is that bad of a passer and after watching Thompson we know he‘s a good passer but is more prone to injuries..

My biggest beef with CT is his reluctance to tuck it and get upfield when the Red Sea parts. Drove me cra cra watching him pass up a first down for a sack or lousy pass attempt. Now that he has legit competition maybe he'll feel more inclined to move the chains with his feet...it isn't like the NFL thinks of him as a passer so he really has nothing to lose.

What made it even more strange was that I think he would have been hit less had he scrambled. At least he could have defended himself or slid.

Spot on with regard to Armstrong. And you know what's crazier? I have come to appreciate Jamal Lord and his heart as time passes.

Nailed it.. he just needs to feel more comfortable tuckin’ and running.. hopefully our coaches can coach him up

You do realize that almost every P5 Qb wears a green Jersey during spring.
Yeah, I know green jerseys are common. I think it's overdone, but that's just my opinion. Established starters are one thing. But for the rest of the guys, what does it hurt to let backup QBs get in a few live plays every spring? Some of these guys haven't been tackled since high school.

That’s the problem with certain things being said on message boards. Some comments are made that don’t actually match facts. He’s missed 2.5 games due to injury & really should have been 1.5 but coaches decided not to bring him back vs Michigan despite him wanting to. You do realize that Sims has been hurt more than CT & actually chose to shut down for the past 2 seasons & CT has played & completed both seasons with injuries that seemed more severe than Sims & required surgery but gritted it out for his teams. The narratives created are false allusions & just over looked perceptions. This kid gutted it out for us this season & deserves a little bit more credit than given.

Actually, Sims has missed more games due to injuries.
