Carson Beck to the portal

Well, maybe those big NIL deals will put an end to some of the college stars leaving early for the NFL.

Kyle McCord 2.0.

Beck started the year with an early first round projection in the draft.

Now he’s a late 4th round to 5th round guy. He’d be making less than $1M a year in the NFL if he even made a roster. He’ll easily make that in college. But feel bad for who pays him, he stinks

Why not just head to the NFL? More money in college nowadays?
He's not going to get drafted in the first round and neither is Ewers. Both could drop as far as the 4th round. Tough to say. So why not do a money grab while you can and who knows, maybe that extra year can make a difference in their draft stock.

As time goes on, we'll see a lot more of this. No longer is a guy certain to be a three year player and declare for the draft, especially at QB. There's a correlation between number of starts and likelihood of success in the NFL. If a guy isn't a sure fire first round pick, it is smarter to stay in and rake in the NIL cash.

He looks like an alien or something. He’s a weird looking dude…

A devestating arm injury after a very sub-par year. Not surprised he didn't get the response he was looking for from the draft.
Beck's draft stock had fallen before the injury. It's a smart move to rehab & get paid millions for another year.

They've got a couple of billionaire alumni backing their NIL now.
One billionaire can completely turn around the prospects for any team in any sport. At some point, a team is going to buy a starting five intact from another school in basketball or six in volleyball. Maybe a starting rotation in baseball plus their pitching coach? Why not? Best five offensive linemen and their line coach? Sure.

If he isn’t high on the draft list in this QB crop, I highly doubt he improves his status too terribly much for the following year. But he will still pocket $2 mil or so in the process, so he has that going for him, which is nice.

Why would he leave Georgia. Seems he'd be the likely starter going into next year. Probsbly just looking for more money. Unless Sayin isn't developing, not sure why OSU would go after Beck.

I’ve never been overly impressed with Beck. Not saying he’s a bum or anything, he’s decent, but I never saw him as this superstar difference maker worth being the top portal prospect. He’s decent, but it seems like there a lot of QBs that can do what he does well. JMO, we’ll see I guess.
