I had the pleasure a few years ago of meeting Coach Bowden, Coach Osborne, and Coach Switzer at a sports card show. They each signed a football for me. Bowden was so pleasant to talk to and so complimentary about NU. He even laughingly admitted that the FSU running back probably fumbled the ball on the goal line in the 1993 Orange bowl. Bowden was a great guy and coach and his type is certainly missed these days

There will only be one BB, great coach and person, this is a sad day for his family, close friends and college football, but he left a lot of great memories for all. Thanks Coach Bowden.

I always liked Bobby Bowden even though NU usually ended up on the losing side when the two teams met. I never felt that the better team won the 94 OB, but at the same time I could tell NU was going to enter the 1994 and 1995 seasons loaded (and ended up with two NCs). I believe Bowden was among Osborne's closest friends in the coaching profession and the improvements that NU made in the 1990s was partly the result of Bowden's advice.
