I just watched the Big Red Wrap up. Not sure how many other actually did. Wondering your take from it.
From what I got is they are not to positive on the outlook for the rest of the season. Said we could easily see a losing record.
They said this teams issues on D is not related to talent. Said our top 20 guys are just as good as anybody in the big 10. Problem is schemes and secondary fundamentals. That we are letting their receivers run their routs cleanly. Never getting any kind of hand or bump on them that first 5 yards. He said he look through every play that southern miss played to see if we interrupted their routs..... Not once, not once did our guys get a hand on them. They were free to run their routs. That is huge, Qb and Wr work on timing. If our guys can't interrupt that timing it is not good, as we are seeing.
Not sure if anyone knows but we rank DEAD LAST in the country for passing yards aloud. That doesn't come down to only lack of talent. It comes down to coaching and not teaching these kids how to play basic football, plain and simple. IF the basic fundamentals aren't being taught from coaches with 30 something years experience, it does worry me what this team will become.
Plus side, they were very positive on Armstrong and our run D.
