Bears making a huge mistake.

Just saying what I would have done...doesn't mean i'm right...but under my scenario, they add a couple really nice picks via a trade, and get a better draft position next year cause they were gonna suck this year anyway....I'd play the long game as far away as they feel, to me anyway
After reading the story on his surgery and knowing what they had to do, I think it’s questionable whether McCarthy ever starts a regular season game. He would have been better off with an ACL IMO. He walked around several days on a badly torn meniscus which compounds the problem and lessens the chance it heals properly

Hey I never woulda drafted the shrimp... Terrible selection IMO. For most of the year I was pretty high on him but the more I watched with my own eyes and saw Hargod play calls tnat seemed to suggest he didnt completwly trust JJ to throw it...no thank you. Not in the first round anyway.

Remember when people made fun of the Bears for not playing Caleb Williams in the 1st preseason game?
“He needs real game reps!”

Bill Belichick on Monday said preseason games are the equivalent of civil war reenactments

Zero game planning, zero sub packages, zero scheme, same base looks all game long

He said joint practices are much, much closer to reg season reps because teams are actually working on stuff

A meniscal injury literally can happen walking down a staircase. McCarthy needed live reps if they were going to play him. He’s toast. Now they have to find a better backup. With their corners, they’ll suck this year anyways😕

Well it didn't happen walking down a staircase. It happened in a pre-season game. I'm just pointing out the possible outcome the Bears saw by randomly throwing out their star rookie to play with a bunch of backups/practice squad players for extremely little benefit. People said the Bears were hiding him and he sucks. No, they were actually smart.

Young QBs need live reps. It’s a risk you need to take and odds are that the meniscal injury was non contact.

The point I was making was that Williams wasn't going to be getting reps with DJ Moore and Swift. It was going to be a bunch of backups and guys trying to make the practice squad. The negative far outweighed the positive. You think the 20 snaps he would have got with a bunch of backups was worth the risk? It wasn't, which is why he didn't play.
