Bad day coming

No one is picking Oregon State over NU...it is just some smoke right now. There are about 3 places worse/harder to recruit at than Oregon State...don't fall for the crystal ball picks.
I know you are being sarcastic...but we already lost Hodgins to Oregon St. The Calibraska movement may come to a screeching halt after today if we lose out on Calvin, a recruit that the experts thought was a for sure thing. We will see, hopefully he still picks NU.

2017 has taken another victim. Damn you, 2017!

Good news is I now dont have to watch 3 hours of football to see not a single player pick Nebraska. What a disaster this years class will turn out to be from what the experts told us it would be.
Not a disaster if we have some really good plan B kids in the wings. I have no issue with recruiting a team full of 3 star gamers who want to work their asses off. So even if today is a wash, I will still be following the end of this recruiting cycle with high hopes. It ain't over till its over.

I just can't do Scotch neat.
For me it is an economic thing. If I drink something on the rocks I tend to drink it faster and more of it. If I drink it neat, I tend to sip it and take my time. So I drink Scotch neat because it is so damned expensive compared to Bourbon and I can't afford to drink too much too fast!

i am not expecting to get very many of these recruits .. maybe one .. will be happy with 2. What I am interested in is the guys that we sign in their stead. I would expect that these recruits would have a decent amount of middle of the pack or at least lower tier power 5 school offers. I'm sorry but a predominance of non power 5 and FCS offers is a big red flag. There are no longer any off the radar recruits - if a kid is going to fresno, nevada, wyoming, etc a bunch of power 5 schools have done their due diligence and decided an offer wasn't justified.

I am no insider but I do have first hand knowledge with regards to Sarrell and I can tell you as others have that he absolutely loves Cav. I can also tell you that the chances of him committing to Nebraska have been as close to zero as it can get for months due to academics. I hope the coaches have realized for months he wasn't coming here but the recent Oline offer has me wondering if that is the case - unless we also struck out on plan B guys and have moved on to plan C.
Exactly. If all these croots are such a reach, why havent we already offered more 4 amd high 3 star guys?
Dingle being dingle, making excuses already and calling everyodne who expects better a pelini lover. Gimme a break.

Exactly. I just bought a great bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon. I will be sipping on that tonight no matter who commits to us or doesn't.

Bought some of that myself over the holidays Buffalo Trace is pretty good stuff but try Templeton Rye it is very very smooth.

Dingle being logical. That's all. Not excuses son. Reasons.

I won't watch this game or event whatever it is but this is a good example of what is wrong with sports now. Too much emphasis is being put on these kids (by ESPN and then subsequently over zealous fans) and their egos get over inflated with what they think is their greatness. This then causes problems as they come in thinking they're the gift to the program creating tension there and causing headaches for the coaches.

As far as I'm concerned football season ended on December 30th, and will start again in late August. What we have then is what we have and we'll have to deal with it win or lose.

We could start a thread titled "Great day coming" but nobody would read it.....what a stage for the drama queens.

Exactly. People would rather whine than find something positive to focus on in their lives.

Back in the day before social media and message boards in business a happy customer told one other person. An unhappy customer on average told 17. That was a well known marketing stat 20 years ago in the business I was in. NOW with social media an unhappy customer (poster) tells thousands....

Bullshit. There was plenty of hype and views on threads anout all these kids. Stop.
And it was virtually all hype and drama because the odds of those kids ever ending up at NU were not good. It's what they do so we get on here and see all the ads on the perimeter of the board.

Doesnt prove my point wrong...positive posts get people too.
So if we were t gonna get em what was the coaches plan then?

Seriously how in the world does a kid pick Oregon State over Nebraska and ND??

ND was no longer in the picture once their OC left. Plus they really like Holmes.

Valid question though.

Edit: I still maintain he's building hype

Another reason why you can't always believe so called "insider" information and crystal balls.

I agree that the hype drew lots of posts. We'll see their plan. They have their board and just like in the NFL draft they go to the next guy to fill their need. That's all you can do.

Are you sure their next guys will be quality?
Look I hope we have a great class but if we get more of the same old crap from a staff that was supposed to be great at recruiting it will be disappointing to say the least.
It could be moot however. We shall see. I certainly didnt see us gerting zero today, i thought wed get some

Yes it does appear far too many Huskers fans lives revolve around recruiting. I`ve never understood why anyone would let the whims and decisions of a 17 year old
enter your personal lives.
Please, I highly doubt this literally happens. Talking about 17 year old recruits on a Husker message board this time of year concerning Husker football =/= entering fans' personal lives or lives revolving around recruiting...

We don't have good enough coaching to win championships with 3-star recruits. Not as long as Meyer, Harbaugh, Franklin, etc. are in this league pulling in Top 10 recruiting classes.

And yet it was Wisconsin and their 45th average rating classes over the last five years that was a hair's breadth away from a title. They will still end up solidly in the top 10.

He is talking about the Nebraska coaching staff's ability to "coach up" players not Wisconsin's staff.
