The bigger problem is the disillusioned kids who all think they are going pro so dont take class seriously, then dont go pro OR get a degree. Theres many more of them than there are jones.
He was still dumber than a box of rocks and largely because of that failed in the NFL.After winning the national title, Cardale kept his word and graduated with $1.5M in his pocket from the NFL
What an idiot!
I don’t disagree with that. That doesn’t change the fact that Cardale was “not a smart man” . Glad he got his degree.Well, my brain would tell me to go make that crazy cash while I can.
You can always go back to college (with a bank account filled with cash) and get that PE degree. But you pretty much just have one chance/time to get that big payday in the NFL.
"we're WAY too critical of our college athletes"He was still dumber than a box of rocks and largely because of that failed in the NFL.
What’s the problem with Gabe? He’s got good size, speed, and his vision is supposed to be the best out of all backs. So why doesn’t it translate? He didn’t look in the same league as Grant and Allen last year and Rhamir looked way better then him the year before. Coaches all love Ervin but he has yet to really standout in a games when he gets it going.Rhule likes Allen, Earvin and he can see Rahmir as a very useful situational player. Grant had production last year, but is apparently dicking around and Rhule is trying to correct. If I see Grant hitting the portal, I won’t be surprised.
Lingering effects from the 2021 injury according to him. He was the #1 rb as a true freshman before the injury so I still hope he can break out. Nice problem to have when your 3rd string was opening day starter as a true frosh in 2021.What’s the problem with Gabe? Right now losing Grant would be a massive blow. Unless Satterfield is being a little creative like he was at SC and use Gilbert as an RB. Cause no offense to Ervin but I just don’t believe he’s the answer
100% The average NFL career is 2.4 years. Making $500k a season. Uncle Sam will take half of that so even IF a guy makes the league he's got 700k to his name at 26. He's going to have to get a job because that 700k isnt going to last him the rest of his life. Over the long haul that degree will be worth far more than those NFL paychecks. The bigger problem is the disillusioned kids who all think they are going pro so dont take class seriously, then dont go pro OR get a degree. Yeah, being a freak ahtlete makes being an idiot much easier.Nate Gerry, another idiot. Who has probably made a couple million in the NFL.
I wish I was such an idiot!
I had a HS classmate go to a small college to play bball. He said it was a ton of work & effort for basically nothing. He found out that he didn't love basketball enough to go through all of that with little to no perks of being on the team.Oh man, I have sent off so many kids to play sports at small schools and almost all of them end up quitting. They think it will be like HS again but playing say, BB at a small college is basically just playing against another team in an empty gym.
Grant looked promising in the first half of the year and then didn't do much of anything down the stretch, avoided contact.Agree. Would not surprise to see Grant move on. He has already done that a few times.

Not sure if the Rutgers game was 1st or 2nd half but Grant did try to kill that guy along the sideline...Grant looked promising in the first half of the year and then didn't do much of anything down the stretch, avoided contact.

How so? Ervin beat him out after a few weeks on campus and then proceeded to get hurt after only a few carries. I don't know how an analysis would come to the conclusion Johnson is 'way better' than Ervin based on almost nothing.
I will give Rhamir some points for going to bat for the team and putting his head down, getting what he could behind an unspeakably poor offensive line and the fact that wasn't what he was born to do. It looked like another Wandale situation. Funny how many times Frost went with that.
The perks of playing college sports are really only present at D1 programs and realistically Power 5 schools. You really have to love your sport more than loving what your sport gives you because it isn't much if you're not at the highest level.Oh man, I have sent off so many kids to play sports at small schools and almost all of them end up quitting. I had a lot of players head off to play football at like Hastings and Doane and places like that and I would always tell them "Make sure you go see what game day looks like because you are not going too have any fans there"I had a HS classmate go to a small college to play bball. This happens all the time. There'a also the pay to play lower division situation as well. I knew a couple of guys in high school (including one bench player) that got partial "scholarships" to play football at some 30k/year private school.

I personally think he was the victim of terrible playcalling and scheming by Whipple. Which combined with the oline problems led to him trying to do to much. Can't blame him.
Yep. The vast majority of D2 schools will draw less than 5k people a game. Hell only about 20 FCS schools get over 10k to attend per game. Schools like UNK are lucky to draw 2k and all NAIA and D3 schools are drawing a couple thousand at best. A lot of kids think it'll be like high school the games will be packed, they'll be the star, all the girls will want to party with them. It's almost never the case. If kids really love the game they can have a good experience but most are happier just closing that chapter of their life and focusing on school.I had a lot of players head off to play football at like Hastings and Doane and places like that and I would always tell them "Make sure you go see what game day looks like because you are not going too have any fans there"
Most quit at semester.
So true...almost all Non-D1 schools the kids on campus don't even know there is a game going on.Yep. The vast majority of D2 schools will draw less than 5k people a game. I went to a small state school in Nebraska. I’ll never forget freshman year going to my first basketball game and there were about 10 people there. Was such a bummer. But I cheered my ass off!Oh man, I have sent off so many kids to play sports at small schools and almost all of them end up quitting. Yeah, it is crazy how few "fans" show up for those games.I went to a small state school in Nebraska. I’ll never forget freshman year going to my first basketball game and there were about 10 people there. Was such a bummer. But I cheered my ass off!
UNK averaged 3200+ attendance per game over the last 2 seasons. Now that's not a significant difference over the 2k figure you mention but it doesn't sound like they are "lucky" to draw 2k. That includes several blow-out victories. Not sure why people want to throw shade on UNK. Keep in mind that the Huskers often play at the same time in the same state as UNK.Yep. That’s a great draw. I remember UNO used to pack their stadium too.UNK averaged 3200+ attendance per game over the last 2 seasons. Got his book bag. Let's hope there are books in it. Lol
