Imagine some dork complaining about a Husker QB with a 74% completion percentage on a slick field with shitty conditions.‘Settling’ is very confusing here. We were fortunate to get someone like him in the first place, and he was the best QB on the roster. And all of which to get us in a better place for next season and going forward.
He has receipts to where he predicted that some of the titties would be too firm or fake.
It’s crazy. This rabid fan base has to turn on someone all the time. And DR was it astonishingly the one after the first bowl game in 8 years.DR was certainly the best QB on the roster, and it isn't close. He was also a true freshman, the sky is the limit. Some of these guys just need to be right and are blinded by that, he could push for All-American status next season, the pieces are falling into place.
I’ll never understand the many, many outspoken posters calling for him to be benched multiple weeks during the season. It’s crazy. This rabid fan base has to turn on someone all the time. And DR was it astonishingly after the first bowl game in 8 years.
He never blamed anyone. Coaches or teammates. He just kept his head down and kept grinding. Guys in the NFL dont do that. Some "fans" forget he's fvcking 19 years old.I’ll never understand the many, many outspoken posters calling for him to be benched multiple weeks during the season.
What DR did this year he did with no help from the coaching staff, which is even more impressive if you ask me.
As for @oldjar07 ’s continued insistence on Rhule having his cake and eating it, too, in the QB room:He never blamed anyone. Coaches or teammates. He just kept his head down and kept grinding. Guys in the NFL dont do that. Some "fans" forget he's fvcking 19 years old.
Imagine where we would be offensively with DH on staff in the spring.I’ll never understand the many, many outspoken posters calling for him to be benched multiple weeks during the season.

Probably, but it brings out all of the naysayers. Like flipping a light switch on in a filthy, infested kitchenOP has 46 posts in 18 years. Do I smell the odor of Iowa?
Nothing wrong with McCord. Would’ve probably won an extra game or 2 with him, but the future is significantly brighter by fighting through the challenges of a true freshman at the helm. Hell, McCord might’ve done well enough to keep Satt around and we would not be better for it going into next season.DR has a lot of room for improvement. Which is why every team in the country wanted him. His ceiling is the 1st overall pick. The guy oldjar salivates over is petitioning for an extra year because he must have got a bad draft grade. Most people have him mid to late round pick. Full disclosure, I would absolutely use a pick on Mccord in the middle rounds. Take him and let him develop as a backup.
I'd still take the senior QB with an ungodly starting record 10 times out of 10 in that situation. Especially if the true freshman is demanding to start. And even if we don't get Raiola his freshman year, he sits on the bench at Georgia or Ohio State, likely gets passed up by their other 5* quarterbacks, and he gets antsy and is looking for a new home come that point, where we would have an opening for him anyway. And even if Raiola doesn't work out at all in that situation, there was another promising young QB available, Sam Leavitt, that we would have been able to pursue at the same time as McCord. People like to think in their own mind that I don't know what I'm talking about, but in reality, I'm 10 steps ahead. I'd take McCord and Sam Leavitt all day over an entitled true freshman QB.As for @oldjar07 ’s continued insistence on Rhule having his cake and eating it, too, in the QB room:
There was never a “both” option for McCord and DR. His premise is rooted in fantasy.
It was always one or the other, as neither were going to commit without a guaranteed starting job. Worked out for all involved.
If this was Year 4 or 5 for Rhule and he had to win now or be fired, he’d have taken McCord.
NFL draft status means less than shit to outcomes in college football. I'd take the guy coming off an 11-1 record and who produced a top 10 Heisman result this year.DR has a lot of room for improvement. Which is why every team in the country wanted him. DR would have had an opportunity to compete with a chance to win the qb battle at Georgia and OSU this yearI'd still take the senior QB with an ungodly starting record 10 times out of 10 in that situation. That guy is scared to compete. Ran from competing with Will Howard. LOL. Ran from competing with a true freshman at Nebraska. Now appears to be running from competing to be a top draft pick. Rumors that he is appealing for an extra year at Syracuse rather then go in the draft.NFL draft status means less than shit to outcomes in college football. ohio st did mccord pretty dirtyThat guy is scared to compete. Ran from competing with Will Howard. LOL. Ran from competing with a true freshman at Nebraska. They told him they were bringing in a portal addition to compete with him and he bailed. Right or wrong. That is what big time programs do.ohio st did mccord pretty dirty
they got will howard long after he had left
I also don't think he "ran from competing" with DR. he had his list of Ts & Cs and went where they were agreed to.
Ha. Ok. When an offense scores very few points (last 2 games Neb scored 10 and 20) then the Defense has to hold the opposing offense to even less points. The D was the strength of this year’s team - not the offense. Dylan plays offense. The offense was one of the lowest scoring offensesYour take is dumb as hell.
Raiola fumbled 7 times. 1 that ruined a masterful performance by Neb’s D and led to a winning kick by Iowa. Only the 2nd school since 2000 that won a game with only 5 first downs. More interceptions for DR too. Raiola will be a first round draft pick in the NFl. AM was not. My argument here has always been that AM had the better Frosh season - nothing else. DR was nails in the first 4 games or so…then he fell off a bit. Our O didn’t score a lot of points. DR plays on O. If not for Neb’s D (especially the line - Nash and Robinson) Nebraska doesn’t go bowling. You are also not taking into account the 6 lost fumbles and however many other fumbles that Nebraska recovered. You don't get to count the 600 yards and not count the negatives that went along with it.
The whole discussion is apples to oranges anyway. Two different styles of QB, like comparing Mike Vick to Peyton Manning,
this is revisionist history. They told him they were bringing in a portal addition to compete with him and he bailed. Right or wrong. That is what big time programs do.
I believe 2 things happened. Mccord wanted to be promised the starting job and Raiola wanted a chance to win the job.ohio st did mccord pretty dirty
they got will howard long after he had left
I also don't think he "ran from competing" with DR. he had his list of Ts & Cs and went where they were agreed to.
if we agree and take him, DR goes elsewhere. is that "running from competing" with McCord? I don't think so.
Your first paragraph is kind of where I am. McCord was the guy I wanted and there’s no doubt the team would have won a couple more games with him in the roster.my only problem with our qb is, and my whole problem with the team in general is..not putting games away...
so I can't single out our qb...I can only include him in a larger group that don't have the proper killer instinct so far...
but this can be worked on....
I remember a si article about a game we went up a few scores, and a 3rd team player went in the game then went to the bench, and dr. tom got up in his face about effort.....
these are kinda the finer details but still need addressed...
someone said raiola got hurt midseason, cause he did'nt know how to slide...or did'nt....not sure if this is true or not..
as just fans we don't have all the info on whats going on..so alot of things are educated guessing.....and in a few fans uneducated guessing....
I can't argue with what you believe.I believe 2 things happened. Mccord wanted to be promised the starting job and Raiola wanted a chance to win the job.
That’s crazy talk. We have experts in this thread who know better. Aren’t you paying attention?DR would have had an opportunity to compete with a chance to win the qb battle at Georgia and OSU this year
he definitely would've had the opportunity to compete for the job at ohiostThat’s crazy talk. We have experts in this thread who know better. Aren’t you paying attention?
I’m just basing the UGA on my eyes. Beck really underwhelmed this year.he definitely would've had the opportunity to compete for the job at ohiost
not sure there was much of a QB competition at UGA, though
And Martinez lost 6 fumbles. You are trying really hard to win an unwinnable argument. This is like arguing best teams ever and comparing army from the 1940s and Miami in the late 80s early 90s.Ha. Ok. When an offense scores very few points (last 2 games Neb scored 10 and 20) then the Defense has to hold the opposing offense to even less points. Dylan IS a great player though and will start in the NFL one day.

I don't think he would have won either one. Both their backups are just as accurate to this point with more mobility than DR.DR would have had an opportunity to compete with a chance to win the qb battle at Georgia and OSU this year
Absolutely this and his deep ball placement as someone else already mentioned.I really hope Raiola works on his speed and agility this off-season and becomes a real running threat when scrambling. I feel there's a lot of first downs we just left on the table because he doesn't scramble and run much
Fair enough. And maybe it worked out for the better in some way in getting Satterfield out as OC.that's fine.
there is just no world in which we get both McCord and DR in the same class.
Are you really comparing the offensive lines and skill position players of Nebraska to Ohio State or Georgia? You were comparing the accuracy of Dylan Raiola in the Nebraska offense versus Howard in the Ohio State offense or the Georgia quarterback in their offense. You have no idea what Raiola could have or would’ve accomplished in a similar situation.I don't think he would have won either one. Both their backups are just as accurate to this point with more mobility than DR.
we there now. This spring should be funImagine where we would be offensively with DH on staff in the spring.
