Ajay Allen to the portal

I disagree. If it was Tom running things, that kid might miss a quarter of football, but then would be starting and ripping through defenders towards a new career high.

What you have here is rewarding mediocre players like Rahmir because they are choir boys and punishing players who are actually more alpha and thus problematic. Same could be said for Yant and also that Space Cowboy Washington kid under Frost.

All of those guys had the potential to be great, and under a TO, would have been given chance after chance to realize it. We have countless examples of this working under Tom.

But under most non-development coaching staffs, they process out the talented headaches for mediocre choir boys and you get the same results as most everybody else does.

This year we are going to have basically the same offensive line and 1&2 running backs as last year and we are expecting a different result?
..I really hope you don’t think Tom never told players not to let the door hit them on the way out…especially backups…..proverbially speaking of course.

You are upset because you think he is our best back. Thats fine, you are entitled to that opinion. You (and I) also dont know what transpired behind closed doors. For all we know, Rhule tried. Or didnt. ?

But why in the world would anyone want a player who doesnt want to be here, doesnt want to play for these coaches, and doesnt try during practice or respond to coaching. See ya.

Yant and Washington are not good examples. Yant had his chances and, except for his performance against a terrible NW team, he failed. He isn't P5 material. As for Maurice Washington, he was given multiple chances by Frost before finally being dismissed. He declared for the draft after one year at Grambling State, which was a mistake because nobody drafted him or signed him as an undrafted free agent.

This is how you fix things long term. Your thinking is short sided. Hes not giving effort, he gets buried. If he doesnt like it, goodbye. Let that be a lesson for all.
The lesson might be that he got 250k to dig it and leave.

Hate to break it to you but Ajay Allen isn't talented enough for Rhule to just let him go through the motions half-assed. And do you know he was processed? Or did he just leave because he was all pouty?

Is crying like a bitch your standard setting?

he is talented enough to land at Miami, where the talent pool is full of new guys every year..

he was was told to move on.

Sipple even says so.

He wasn't Adrian Peterson, Ahman Green, etc. Would have liked to keep him. Seemed like a talented player. But he clearly was all pouty about Applewhite not being retained and didn't want to be here.

What was Rhule going to do? Beg a kid who had 190 yards rushing last year to stay? When the guy who started over him was still here with the opening day starter from 2 years ago trying to earn the top spot too? Face it, Grant beat him out last year and Ervin really, really wants to play. No room for a half-in kid at RB. One of the positions on the team with experienced depth.

lol.. he got reps in the first 4 games until he got injured.. you want to call that getting beat out when he's playing as a true freshman?

He was the backup to Grant. What else would you call it? Ervin has been busting his ass to take Ajay's reps. What were you going to do with an unhappy, pouty player? Beg him to stay when you have 3 other experienced backs? 1 who already beat him out last year. That's the kind of nonsense Frost pulled and divided the team. He wasn't worth it. Talented young player, but not talented enough for Rhule to sell his soul.

it looks like Ervin got AJ's reps after he got injured, and then dropped off. Grant was a JC transfer, so he got the bulk of the early carries just because of his prior success and experience. Most Freshmen are not physically ready to play and need to mature, so the fact that AJ was getting reps and good productivity tells you of his talent.

Those guys summed it up well in that the whole staff got changed on him, and any promises that were made to AJ disappeared when the new staff came in.

I just would have liked to see the new staff work harder to keep that talented kid around.

If he was physically ready, he wouldn’t have gotten hurt

With the portal it’s impossible to keep everyone around, it’s obvious in a couple of videos of Him not working hard in drills and told to them over there was an issue.

Let's talk about those videos. I find it hard to believe an ultra micro-manager like Rhule who employs a bunch of video people he no doubt brought with him from other places let that content slip out. More like maybe it was put out purposely to light a fire under the guy and he didn't appreciate it.

Ervin started as a freshmen. So he must be an incredible talent as a backup. The staff wasn't going to keep Ajay. He didn't want to be here and a backup rb of all players isn't worth fretting about.

Agreed. It was purposely put out there. 5 years without a bowl game. This roster doesn't have good enough players to let them walk back to the line while the coach screams to hustle. These players are getting free school, room and board, plus getting paid. Hustle when coach says hustle or GTFO.

Guess that means your off the Rhule wagon already.

We have a clash of football worldviews.

If you are on the train that Rhule can do no wrong and its right now above criticism you can say Allen was a slothful, unmotivated drain.
Or, you might say Rhule failed to motivate and help this particular player to do his best.

This is how you fix things long term. Your thinking is short sided. Hes not giving effort, he gets buried. If he doesnt like it, goodbye. Let that be a lesson for all.
I disagree. You need to keep talented guys on the roster, and Ajay was the most talented freshman running back we've seen here in quite some time.

So every player that gets hurt is because they aren't physically ready? That's a stupid ass comment.
Did I say every player? No. Was I seriously implying the guy got hurt because he wasn’t prepared? No. Is it possible that he wasn’t prepared tho, I sure would say so if we base his level of commitment off the lackluster effort given in practice and the lack of accountability form the previous staff. Buy it mostly I was giving a comment to some idiot who thinks we are losing some great guy who couldn’t even practice hard and jumped ship when he didn’t get his way . Like 95% of these kids these days they weren’t raised to handle rejection.
