5 for 5!! All N!!

After the season he stated something along the lines that we have enough big receivers and we need a smaller possession receiver.
With the skeptical takes I've seen on here about Neyor, it's not an unreasonable take or out of alignment with what other fans see that taking a proven smaller possession receiver could be better than taking a flyer on a guy just because he has height. Banks is an obvious upgrade to the WR room. Not sure yet about Neyor.

What about Windham Ohouli or however you spell his name?
The 2021 recruit? I was referring to the fact I can only think of 1 kid that has left from the 2023 class. Out of 28. With 28 more coming in. Very high retention rate so far. Obviously that will change going forward but a 96% retention rate after the freshman year is unheard of for a big class.

We had that guy in Kemp last year. He made a negligible impact on our win total.

But they arent leaders if they transfer.

Look, I hate the blind rhule sunshine pumping too. His first year was a failure.
But oldjar is an idiot and should not be defended in any way, and deserves to be called out for the downer that he is. He is finding things to complain about because he wants to complain.
He found a way to complain about DR, he found a way to work in complaints with every portal addition even though he says we need portal additions, and he even went as far to complain about the height of our receivers, ffs.

He needs to get lost.
I said all along that the height of receivers was a minor nitpick and not a complaint. Not my fault people can't comprehend things.

Uh ok. Most of the recievers with the most receptions in the nfl are bigger guys. AJ Brown, Cee Dee Lamb, Puka Nacua Davante Adams. Definitely more of them than there are Tyreke Hill or Jaylen Waddle

Rhule has stated many times that he wants to build a base first. His opinion is that leveraging the farm for one year players isn’t really his m.o.
Plenty of transfers out there who aren't one year players. Not that you can really guarantee the guys on your own roster (your base I guess?) aren't really just rentals in this day and age anyway.

And if AJ Brown was in the transfer portal, we definitely should have taken him. You really think I'm arguing that?

Never said anything about Kemp. There's a middle ground between 6'4 and 5'8. And there's proven and talented guys in the portal in that height range who are a lot better than Kemp.

Gees I didn't realize he was 2021.

I've always been 100% consistent on anything I've ever argued. That the idiots on this board can't comprehend things or keep up isn't my problem.
How ismit consistent to want more portal players, then when we get them bash them, or say they arent leaders because they transfer.
What, do you want a team full of non-leaders?
Explain that consistency.

Your thinking appears to be that larger receivers aren’t possession receivers. If I am not mistaken you brought up size in another thread. I am just stating that size of receiver has little to do with the type of receiver.

Most of the discussions stated when Nebraska appeared to be looking at McCord and Fleming. Both of these guys would have been 1 year guys.

The. You went on a tangent about 10 5.5 3 star freshmen.

I doubt they took Neyor strictly because of his height. They likely took him because he was a straight playmaking boss at Wyoming who should now be fully healed and hungry to prove himself.

Yes, I think it's perfectly fine if players, including transfers, aren't leaders. People talk about leadership all the time, but they don't talk about followership, which is arguably as or more important than leadership. There are at max truly only one or a few leaders on a team. It is perfectly okay to not be a leader, and I wasn’t bashing him.

Well your analysis of my thinking is wrong. Yes, larger receivers can be possession receivers. And not every player can fit into a neat category, but I was explaining archetype receivers in that thread and the type of receivers which we are currently lacking on our roster.

And they would have been guys who would have massively upgraded the roster at their respective positions. And 1 year was actually a benefit in McCord's case because we could have taken both him and Raiola if we played our cards right and be potentially competing for a playoff spot next year. And if you don't take Fleming just because he's a 1 year guy, then you're just an idiot.

So what do you know about Neyor that says he isn't a "possesion" type receiver? Does he have issues catching the ball? Running routes? Is he only allowed to catch 50 yard touchdowns and not 7 yard first downs?

Clearly one of them was not coming to Nebraska if the other was. Just because something looks like a fit on paper doesn't make the fit real. From all appearances, Fleming wasn't coming without McCord and McCord was no longer an option if Nebraska signed Raiola.

You're the only one spinning shit here. Like I said earlier, I am always 100% consistent in everything I say. That you don't have the comprehension to follow along isn't my issue.

And if what you're saying is the case, you just admitted a 17 year old HS kid strong-armed Rhule into not taking a QB who could have improved our chances next year, along with not taking both Fleming and McCord. I don’t think Rhule is lacking this kind of integrity, so it must have been something else besides what you're suggesting.

Any idea which one was better?

How do you miss your trip?
His last name was Alexander and he was rated lower than Thompson.

He was supposed to come in for a full visit but at nearly the last minute changed that to a visit lasting just a few hours. Supposedly Rhule said, "Yeah, no" and the visit was off. Alexander committed to a lesser team but I'm too lazy to look up which one.

Year 1 was far from a failure. Last 4 games maybe…but looking at injuries, depth and QB play? Lucky we won 2 games.

Well I will take Rhule at his word when he said that no transfer QB was offered a spot and that he wants to build a base of high school players and not one year guys. Now whether or not Raiola strong armed him or if Rhule decided he was going to go with Raiola from the jump, Fleming wasn't coming here without McCord and McCord wasn't coming here if Raiola did.

Not sure you can argue DR strong armed Rhule here, unless you were in the room and saw it. It’s quite possible that DR said to Rhule, I want to come to Nebraska if there’s still room. No demands, just that he wanted to come to Nebraska. Once Rhule said yes, McCord, who has been widely regarded as a guy requesting to be the starter wherever he goes, doesn’t like the possible competition the #1 QB presents, and says no thank you.

Not saying you’re wrong, and if DR did request to be the starter, I still would say Rhule made the right decision for the long term. How do you tell a legacy recruit and the number 1 QB in the nation we have no room?

Pelini, Riley and Frost all had a shot to bring in Burrow and chose not to. Do we want Rhule to follow that pattern? Not me…

I find it totally believable that Raiola wanted a chance to compete for the starting job. I also find it totally believable that McCord wanted to be assured the starting job. With the portal shuffling, McCord to Syracuse is a head scratcher. Unless he really didn't want to compete with another good young qb.

If the tables were turned and we'd have gotten McCord and not DR, you think some people would be saying DR passed because Rhule wouldn't guarantee him the starting job? 🤔

Man, I wanna live in your world.
I guess it comes down to definitions. I would consider it disappointing the team was not able to win 1 of the last 4 and get to a bowl game. With that said, many on here were calling for the team to win 3, 4 or even less because "that is what Rhule does when he goes to a new job". So to call it a failure is probably too extreme in my opinion.

That's fair. I just thought it was funny that he said it was "far from a failure"...I mean, minus the last 4 games, the QB and the roster. Other than that, far from a failure 😂

I didn’t make the claim and I said that I didn’t think Rhule would let a 17 year old HS kid strong-arm him.

I mean it's year 1, so he used up his pass already. I expect much better in year 2 and think we'll have the roster to win a lot more games.

Technically, you tried to spin my post into saying that I made that claim. But I was quickly able to refute that by saying it was clearly Rhule that chose Raiola over McCord because Rhule stated that he didn’t offer a transfer.
