Not quite the showing I was expecting, but it was a very exciting tournament.
Senior TJ Dudley at 184lbs becomes a 3 time All American earning 3rd place this year. 8th, 2nd, and 3rd in the nation the last 3 years. He had a couple of unexpected losses in the last month which placed him as the 7th seed in the tourney. He exceeded that and had a great tournament.
Sophomore Tyler Berger earns his first medal at nationals placing 5th at 157. He was seeded 4th, but still had a good tournament and has a bright future.
Senior Aaron Studebaker placed 5th at 197 and goes out as an All American for the Huskers. The Raymond Central product was seeded 7th and had a very solid performance in the consolations after being upset in the quarter finals.
Senior Eric Montoya becomes a two time AA placing 5th last year and then earning 6th this year. He had a great career as a Husker and also wrestled above his original seed of 7th.
Senior Tim Lambert and Junior Colton McCrystal both reached the round of 12 and needed one more win to AA. They were close, but didn't quite make the podium.
As a team, the Huskers will finish in 9th place. Penn St. and Ohio St. will finish 1st and 2nd to lead the B1G.
