Greg Sharpe just confirmed the game is delayed due to weather.

The current wind chill is 27F.
The Big Ten has a rule as of last year that games cannot start unless the wind chill is at least 28F.

They will check the conditions at 2pm CDT. The National Weather Service will be the official source.

If conditions are adequate, the game will start 50 minutes after such determination.

The earliest today's game will start is 2:50pm CDT.

(9) Lackney enters at DH (and starting pitcher), Smith exits the lineup.
(2) Mezzenga and (6) Coffey swap spots in the order.
(7) Boxwell moves up from 9.

NEBRASKA

(5) Altavilla moves down from (3), (3) Schreiber and (4) Wilkening shift up a spot.

Only two true left-handed bats today for Nebraska (Roskam and Hagge) with Minnesota throwing a lefty today.

Minnesota starting pitcher Nick Lackney is currently listed as the DH. He will not be the DH by the time they get to the 9-spot in the order. John Anderson is notorious for doing this apparently.

Erstad did this quite a bit in 2014 as I recall.

This guy from the LJS currently on the baseball radio broadcast as a guest sounds like I imagine Sipple sounded like a couple decades ago.

Like a cross between Sipple and Rob Zatechka.

Chris Basnett is his name.

Jeff Tezak going with the "Bundled Up Randy" from "A Christmas Story" look today in the first base coach's box.

Okay, maybe not that extreme, but the radio guys are giving him crap for how bundled up he is... "No way he's able to work the buttons on the stopwatch."

Edit: Here's a photo...

Another...

Minnesota CF Boxwell of Coon Rapids, Minn., is sleeveless like Schreiber, but is wearing a hand warmer in the field.

The following player is currently in the on-deck circle to enter the game as DH in place of SP Nick Lackney in the batting order:
(L) Eduardo Estrada Jr. .133 BA / .297 OBP / .233 SLG / 30 AB (1 RBI, 7 BB, 9 K)
- Yesterday: DNP

Hagge records putout at the warning track with a runner on to end T2.

2-0 Huskers entering B2

Leadoff walk by Roskam, bloop single off the end of the bat for Hallmark, sac bunt by Hagge, and a fielder's choice by Acker scores Roskam.

3-0 Huskers, B2 2 out

2-out infield single on a funny bounce followed by a stolen base. Runner is stranded.

3-0 Huskers M3

Tezak's extra padding today came in handy on a first-pitch leadoff foul ball by Luckey in B3. Allowed him to be more aggressive than usual on fielding it.

Solo HR for Schreiber to the parking lot in RF the opposite way.

This is Schreiber's 5th multi-HR game of his career.

4-0 Huskers B3 1 out

After a leadoff single, controversial bunt single, followed by poor defense execution on a bunt with a throw to 2B going into second field scores a runner.

4-1 Huskers, T4, 0 out, 2 on

Sac fly with an opportunity to get another out at 3rd scores another.

4-2 Huskers, runner on 3rd, 2 out, T4

A comedy of pitching and fielding miscues with a K forces a pitching change, and a sac fly scores a run.

5-2 Big Red, 2 on, 2 out, B4

1-out single is picked off in the next AB.
F8 ends the inning

5-2 Nebraska, M5

Leadoff Schreiber 4-pitch walk (don't blame them) followed by a Wilkening single and a bunt single by Altavilla loads the bases!!!

5-2 NU B5 0 out

Roskam sac fly advances all three runners, scoring Schreiber.

6-2 Huskers B5 1 out

Hagge sends a rope to RF that nearly decapitates Hallmark but Hallmark avoids contact.

2 on 1 out

This reliever entered his appearance with 16 IP and just 1 ER. He has conceded 3 ER and is responsible for 3 base runners.

Those last two singles by Hagge and Acker were both first-pitch swings.

Through 7 batters faced this inning, Schulze delivered just one strike that did not result in a single or sac fly.

Then Repinski strikes out.

2 Ks
Single under the glove of 3B Luckey (about 4-5 full-count pitches)
F7

8-2 Huskers, M6

This marks Matt Waldron's longest outing of the season.

LHP Bubba Horton (0.00 ERA in 7.1 IP) enters in relief for Minnesota.

Leadoff single for Schreiber and 4-pitch walk for Wilkening... the opposite of what happened in the 5th.
Altavilla starts the plate appearance watching 3 balls pass (7 straight balls), before bunting into a double play with a popup to the pitcher who throws to 2nd behind Schreiber.
Roskam P5

8-2 Huskers, E6

Leadoff single and stolen base is stranded.
K swinging
F8
K looking

7.0 IP for Matt Waldron marks his longest start since going 7 innings in his first start of 2017 in the opening weekend against UC-Riverside.

8-2 Huskers, M7
