Update:

FINAL:
Nebraska 5
Northwestern 2

Huskers (18-5) put another tally in the left-hand column. That’s 8 wins in a row and a 1-0 start to Big Ten play. Northwestern (10-13) drops its fourth in a row.

Today’s heroes, in no order:
Brett Sears: 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Kyle Perry: Got the ‘Skers out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in B8 as they held a 4-2 lead.

Rans Sanders: Similar thing in B9, getting the ‘Skers out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam to seal it.

Will Walsh: 2-run HR for an early 2-1 lead.

Cole Evans: Go-ahead sac fly in T7 and RBI single for insurance run in T9

Josh Caron: RBI single to follow Evans in T7 to give Nebraska a 4-2 lead

Game 2 first pitch is at 1pm CT tomorrow. The matchup: RHP Drew Christo (1-1, 4.13 ERA) vs. RHP Kyle Potthoff (2-0, 2.28 ERA)

=================================

Nebraska (17-5) looks to extend its winning streak to eight games today as it begins a three-game road series at Northwestern. The Wildcats (10-12) have been inconsistent this year with win streaks of three and four games but also losing skids of five games and a current three-game skid.

It's the Big Ten opener for both teams. First pitch is set for 3pm CT. Nebraska is sending its workhorse to the mound in RHP Brett Sears (4-0, 1.14 ERA) and Northwestern will be throwing LHP Nolan Morr (1-3, 6.39 ERA)

Game is being streamed live on B1G+ and Huskers Radio Network. Below is the series preview. I have a pair of meetings this afternoon, so I'll be around sporadically to provide updates and to refresh the score/inning in the thread title (if needed).
