I'LL BE IN LINCOLN ATTENDING MY FIRST GAME AT MEMORIAL STADIUM.

I'VE BEEN TO THE HOLIDAY BOWL TWICE AND THE ROSE BOWL BEFORE BUT NEVER TO MEMORIAL STADIUM.

NOT SURE WHERE WE'LL BE SITTING BUT I'LL BE ATTENDING THE GAME WITH MY BROTHER AND 2 COUSINS.

I don’t get to many games - but it’s a magical place. Several times we have waited until the field and crowd clear out and you can go down to the field. Have several pics on the 50 yard line - awesome stuff. Enjoy your first game!

Who's going to start the 1st & 2nd half game threads that week?

Have a blast at the game!

Enjoy my friend!

My first game was 2012 VS a Kirk Cousins led MSU.

Very cold, but we showed out!

GBR
my first game was in 1976 With my dad who died a few years ago. Ferragamo was the quarterback. I can’t remember The opponent. I remember the sea of red, though, the first time I saw it. We had moved a few years earlier from a half ass football state. My first thought was oh! this is what big-time college football is supposed to be like.

Der Legend will be in the House, Oh Yeah! You'll have a great time, and even better if Nebraska gets the win.

How much time do you have tomorrow? Consider taking 83 north out of NP to hwy 92. Go east through Arnold to Hwy 2 at Merna. Then head SE to Broken Bow. Hit Kinkaiders Brewery on the north side of Broken Bow (opens at 11 a.m.). Then take Hwy 2 on to Grand Island and then I80 to Lincoln. It’s not the heart of the Sandhills, but a bit of a taste of it. And a good craft beer to boot and you can still be in Lincoln for happy hour

If you know seats morning of, post section/row/seat Saturday. If in the 600 sections, I'll visit.

I’m in our hotel room and we did eat at Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse. Interesting place.

Because we slaughtered the Buffaloes I had the Buffalo Burger. RIP Ralphie! Laughing

...curious what you thought of the food? The place itself is legend, but my opinion of the food there is pretty meh. I was considering getting some mashed taters there once and asked the waitress if they were real or instant.....instant. Went another direction. Very average bar food on its best day IMO, and i'm somebody who loves old school so much i'm willing to lie to myself about something for nostalgia purposes.

Unfortunately we don’t have the time to do that. I did try to order a Kinkaider at Ole’s but they were out of it.

We’ve driven through the Sand Hills before.

We’re meeting my cousins in Grand Island at the Coney Island at 12:00.

We both had burgers so its hard to mess that up.

My wife wasn’t overly impressed but my Ralphie burger went down nice and easy just like the Buffs!

I love that drive. Going both east and west on Hwy 2 is pretty, IMO.

You can get Kinkaider anywhere in the state. The Broken Bow location is the best because its out in the middle of a cornfield in the sandhills, very picturesque. They do a great Oktoberfest every year out there, its on Oct 12 this year. Their beer is fine, but there are endless options of local beers that are all just as good. They do have a location in the haymarket in Lincoln if you really need it.

I will agree that Ole's food has declined in recent years. Atmosphere is great, but the food is just like every other average bar in the state. Used to be better, but I was a kid, so maybe its always been the same and I just pay more attention now.

But Coney Island on the other hand!! Hands down my favorite place to eat in the state. Its just coney dogs, fries and malts, but it is amazing for the greasy junk food fix. I have tried to replicate their coney sauce many times and always fail. Will give me indigestion for a week each time, but so worth it.

My dad used to take my mom to Coney Island when they were dating. It’s an institution! 🌭

I've known Gus, Catherine, Pauline, George, Kristina for 60 years. I used to work next door at the Manhattan Cafe, since closed, when I was 12 years old in 1965.

BTW Gus, now passed, and his son George are BIG horseracing fans. Their fries and malts (made with malt powder) are top notch.
