I was reading an article about Penn State and noticed that it said, "they now remain, with Stanford, as the only two programs to make every NCAA field since its beginning." So I looked it up and in 1981 the tournament moved from the AIAW to the NCAA. It was a 20 team field, and Nebraska as Big 8 Champs were not invited to the tournament. This being the only time that we have not made the field. Anybody have any insight into this? Just hard to believe that a conference champion wouldn't make it.
