Was Max tired? Dude was extremely effective. I’m probably in the minority but I despise the concept of the “ CLOSER”. Roll out your EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE pitcher in the ninth and see how he does. If he starts to have issues, THEN bring in the next pitcher. This concept that the last three outs are ridiculously hard to get and you need to bring in a specialist kills me. I’m sure some will say Max had thrown over 70 pitches and was done ... unless the coaches saw a drop off with his velocity I say leave him in until he shows problems. How often do you see the first or second batters do damage against a new pitcher until he gets the nerves out. Especially the very first batter ... absolutely can’t walk him and that’s what we did. I know it’s easy to Monday morning it, but on the whole I can’t stand the GOT TO GIVE IT TO THE CLOSER BECAUSE, HEY, ITS THE NINTH. Rant over. Don’t feel any better.
