15 Feb 2020 Game 2: Nebraseball at Baylor - Baylor wins 8-7 (10)

Was Max tired? Dude was extremely effective. I’m probably in the minority but I despise the concept of the “ CLOSER”. Roll out your EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE pitcher in the ninth and see how he does. If he starts to have issues, THEN bring in the next pitcher. This concept that the last three outs are ridiculously hard to get and you need to bring in a specialist kills me. I’m sure some will say Max had thrown over 70 pitches and was done ... unless the coaches saw a drop off with his velocity I say leave him in until he shows problems. How often do you see the first or second batters do damage against a new pitcher until he gets the nerves out. Especially the very first batter ... absolutely can’t walk him and that’s what we did. I know it’s easy to Monday morning it, but on the whole I can’t stand the GOT TO GIVE IT TO THE CLOSER BECAUSE, HEY, ITS THE NINTH. Rant over. Don’t feel any better.

My perspective was Shay was warming up as early as the 7th inning.
I thought Schanaman would be coming in the 8th.
But Schreiber was able to get himself out of trouble a few times and was able to keep himself in the game all the way thru the 8th.
And I was pleasantly surprised by that.
Now to your point...
I'm not saying you're right or wrong.
Just that we're still learning how this team will shape up.

I got beat up by some RSSers in the past for suggesting that once. It’s a situation where we were probably fortunate to be in the game thanks to some timely homeruns and Schreiber’s performance.

Usually when you give up that lead in the Bottom of the 9th on the road you will lose.

It’s ok, get the rubber match tomorrow.

If someone is mowing them down and not Out of gas ride him. Closers cant walk leadoff hitters in tight games, obviously. Nice comeback down 5. Will be there tomorrow can’t wait!!
