Funny story..or not

Im gonna try and keep this as short as possible but it won't be..My friend has a daughter who is getting her Masters Degree at Tennessee. So last fall they made plans to go to the Alabama game. He was put in charge to get 6 tickets for he and his wife, daughter and boyfriend, and his brother and sister in law. (Poor choice putting him in charge but I digress). I wanna say it was through Ticketmaster, but could be another site. He picks out 6 tickets for something like $3800 and he said the site tells him make sure this is what you want because all sales are final, no refunds yada yada yada. He pushes send and then a few seconds later realizes he purchased tickets for the Florida game! So of course he panics. Gets on the phone, for multiple days, and just gets the runaround, so basically he's stuck with $3800 worth of tickets he isn't gonna use. However, he could try to resell them himself on the site and decides this is the best option...btw he has not told his wife or anyone else any of this.

In the meantime he buys 6 tickets for the Alabama game for something like $4500, so he's into this for close to $8000 now. (He obviously is not a nosebleed section kinda guy) A couple weeks later he sells his Florida tickets and recoups most of what he paid so is feeling pretty good..or so he thought. Turns out he was scammed. So now he lost his tickets and has no way of getting any money for them. (I'm not sure how a scam works with online tickets but whatever) He finds out that this is a fairly common problem with these sites.

So, fast forward a couple months and after hours and hours of time on the phone and constant runaround he somehow was able to get most of his money back from Ticketmaster (or whatever site it was). He said the website did everything they could to get out of any responsibility but he kept pushing with the advice of a lawyer friend.

What makes this kinda funny is none of us were surprised at all through this ordeal. Lars is a guy with two Masters degrees and zero common sense degrees. He is the epitome of the word egghead. He has absolutely no sense of detail, time, order, etc. So this blunder is not something surprising to any of us that know him. We love the guy but he drives us all crazy.

Most of us probably have a friend like this, but here's an example. I play a lot of golf with him and here's a typical day..Say we have a 9 o'clock tee time in a tournament at his course and I'm staying at his house. He wakes up at 8:15, turns on the news, reads the paper, has some breakfast and tries to engage in some type of conversation, oblivious of the time. So I will remind him of our 9 o'clock tee time and he will then decide he needs a "quick shower" around 8:45. Forgets his clubs on the way to the course, goes back and gets them and steps on the tee at 9:01, shirt half way tucked in, one sock pulled up and one folded over, shoes untied and none of his clothes matching in the least.. Of course, I'm just the opposite. I'm AT the course at 8:15 warming up, getting the cart, food and drinks, etc. all lined up so I've learned to just drive separately.

Chimps/Apes/Monkeys

Apparently they have entered the bronze age that humans went through. If you Google chimp spear fishing it's crazy. Also, a dog killed a baby monkey and the monkey's wanted revenge. They snapped up 250 dogs and dropped them off trees or into the ocean to kill them. Do we take them out before Planet of the Apes or take our chances! Saw it on Rogan, but verified both are real.

Recruiting 2026 Florida four-star S commit visiting for Junior Day

2026 Florida four-star safety commit Devin Jackson will visit Nebraska for Junior Day next month, Feb. 1. Jackson, who plays at Orland (Fla.) First Academy has been recruited by new defensive backs coach Addison Williams since Williams was at UCF and is now making a run at the 6-foot-2 defensive back. His high school teammate, three-star athlete Danny Odem told me last week he's planning to visit on Feb. 1. John Butler offered Odem earlier this month.

taken from elsewhere:

UNLV insider Joe Arrigo is currently live on a Twitter space. He says Sluka went into Coach Odom’s office on Monday and said he needed $300k to stay. Odom said that was not happening and Sluka cleared out his locker. Sluka skipped practice on Tuesday and posted his intention to leave that night. Arrigo believes Sluka got an NIL agent after the Kansas game who got into Sluka’s ear about making more NIL money. The re may or may not be another school involved, but the timing of this implies that this is a play to try to strong arm UNLV into a payday now.

Dude is currently sitting at a 44% completion percentage, lol
