Football Five Takeaways: Garret McGuire, Bob Wager press conference

Five key takeaways from today's press conference with Garret McGuire and Bob Wager:

– Old bull and young calf take the podium on the same day
– Texas is back (for Nebraska recruiting)
– Thoughts on current WR, TE rooms? Still a learning process

Colorado potentially losing their OC?

Puffs OC a top contender to replace Rees at Notre Dame; would love to see Lewis get poached as he is a very good OC. Anything that that hurts 'em and makes our upcoming game easier makes me happy!

"Per sources, the Fighting Irish’s candidate pool at the collegiate level has seen the school vetting Utah’s Andy Ludwig, Washington’s Ryan Grubb, Toledo’s Jason Candle, Colorado’s Sean Lewis and at least one other high-level Power-5 offensive coordinator."

Football **UPDATED Feb. 8: Nebraska releases coaching staff contracts (All 10 assistant salaries now known)

The University of Nebraska has released contract information for all 10 of the Huskers' assistant coaches, plus head strength and conditioning coach Corey Campbell.

The school released contract info for TE coach Bob Wager on Wednesday as he was the last assistant whose contract details had not yet been released. Wager is set to make $315,000 annually on a three-year deal that runs through the 2025 season.

Matt Rhule was given an assistant salary pool of $7 million. The figure for his 10 assistants totals $5.515 million, leaving $1.485 million available for Rhule to divide amongst his support staff.

Spring Practice Action

Are you all gone till Spring Practice?

Most are Missing, cause there ain’t much Action!

Pretty quiet here. Not really much in the way of Football Information. Not many good stories, no bickering, name calling, no insider’s information, not even much in to way OT. We’re almost at the point of just drawing dust here.

I think I’ll head off to Cardiac Rehab, get a Joint Replaced and follow up with a Brain Scan. Then just sit around, drink coffee, and search for the Meaning of Life as a Husker Fan.

Hope you have a good 6 weeks.

Baseball What we learned: Nebraska baseball's preseason press conference

Plenty of great stuff today from Bolt, Schanaman and Cervantes. Getting me pumped for baseball season. Opening day only nine days away. Hit the link.

Baseball Darin Erstad, Alex Gordon and Shane Komine to have jerseys retired

The three former All-Americans will become the first Husker baseball players to have their jerseys retire in the 117-year history of the program.

The induction ceremony will be on March 24 when Nebraska hosts Illinois.

"It is fitting that Darin Erstad, Shane Komine and Alex Gordon are the first Husker baseball players to be honored with a retired jersey," said Nebraska Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics Trev Alberts in a press release. "Each of them left a lasting legacy of excellence and helped elevate Nebraska baseball to new heights. Darin, Shane, and Alex are members of our Athletics Hall of Fame and have been great ambassadors for Nebraska, and we look forward to honoring them this spring."

Not going to see any disagreement from me about these three. They are practically the Mount Rushmore of Nebraska baseball.
