There are few things as quietly enjoyable as watching Tiger Woods play golf

Even many years and many significant injuries past his prime, the man still plays the game with the cool confidence and pace reserved for those few and true geniuses ... the way Tom Osborne called a perfect offensive game without ever needing to look at a play sheet or the way Bob Ross brought "pretty trees" to a Canvas over a couple of hours with such calm that millions of average joes thought hey, even I can do this.

It turns out that nobody else can play the game like Tiger, call a game like Osborne, or paint for pleasure and education like that trio.

Rory McIlroy and Steve Spurrier shared almost preternatural similarities in their near geniuses .. but there is that last and final piece to the puzzle which they and the rest of us will never get to experience ...

my metaphor ran out but Bob Ross was so dang good that people just use his old shows via YouTube nowadays because who the heck else could pull that off

Baseball Huskers add pair of 2025 pitchers

Nebraska's recruiting trail heated up again just before its season-opening series against San Diego later tonight. Ty Miller was the first of two pitcher commits yesterday. The 6-foot-5 Miller comes from Olathe, Kansas where he pitches for Olathe West and his travel team Aces Midwest. The sophomore just recently had his fastball clocked out at 86.5 mph.

Metro product Brett Hoelscher joined Miller as the second 2025 commit hours later. The 6-foot-3 lefty attends Papillion-La Vista high school. He also had his fastball top out at 86.6 mph.

Recruiting Dylan Raiola FutureCast

Putting a spotlight on this:

Rivals' Woody Wommack placed a FutureCast over the weekend for Georgia to land five-star QB Dylan Raiola. I spoke with Woody, and it does sound like the Bulldogs are well-positioned to get Raiola. Neither @Greg Smith nor I are ready to make the same call on Raiola to UGA, and we actually both believe, as of right now, that Nebraska still has a shot to land Raiola. We will continue digging to find out more.

For what it's worth: Woody is 194/232 (83.6%) all-time on his FutureCast predictions.

Update on a prayer request

About 6 weeks ago I asked for prayers for my new born great-grandson Bennett. After spending 7 weeks at Children's Hospital in Omaha, Bennett was able to come home yesterday. Thank you for all your prayers. I believe in the power of prayer. The doctors and staff at Children's are amazing. If anyone is looking for a charity to give to, I hope you consider Children's hospital in Omaha. Once again thank you.

Going Mar 29-Apr 2 with friends and wives. haven't golfed there in years..Staying at Mandalay Bay. Need help with best value deals for golf and maybe a dinner place or two. Don't want outrageous prices but not necessarily skimping either. (don't wanna top $175ish/golf and $70ish steak)...we are not RSS rich 🤷‍♂️

3 of us will be golfing 2-3 days. Also if you know, how long of a ride is it to the course from Mandalay bay? So we can plan ubers, etc. TIA

Baseball Nebraska No. 5 in B1G preseason coaches’ poll

The Huskers are projected to finish 5th in the B1G according to the preseason coaches’ poll released Thursday. Maryland are the conference favorites after reaching a regional final last year on their home field.

Rutgers is No. 2, Iowa No. 3 and Illinois is No. 4. Nebraska avoids the Scarlett Knights on their schedule.

Max Anderson, Brice Matthews and Emmett Olson also earned Big Ten preseason honors. The Huskers kick off the regular season tomorrow when they face San Diego at 8 p.m. C.T.
