Who replaces Max and Brice next year?

It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that both are gone after historical seasons this year. Who's got the best shot to replace them and join Swanson among the big 3 at the plate next year?

My early vote is for Caron and Carey. Both just ooze potential to me. Both have shown power and talent. A dark horse for me though is Columbus. He seems so confident at the plate and has a sweet swing. Somehow he hasn't had a single HR this year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him jump to a double digit HR guy.

Football Friday Mailbag!

Well all right ... I called for questions for my first Friday Mailbag two days ago. I don't know how many questions I expected to get that I could go in-depth on, but I wasn't anticipating 23 of them haha guess I underestimated our award-nominated subscribers.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a question! I picked out seven of them, so I've got 16 left that are stored away now. I'll answer those over the course of future mailbags this summer, or I may use some for a standalone article or a podcast segment. Until then, here's way too many words to get your Friday morning started:

Husker Track and Field - NCAA West Preliminary meet

Wednesday qualifiers

110 m Hurdles - Darius Luff, will run finals Friday. Had fastest qualifying time.

Field events - all qualifiers move on to the NCAA Championships:

Javelin - Arthur Petersen 247’
Dash Sirmon. 245’

Shot Put - Max Otterdahl
Jonah Wilson Both threw 64’ 9 1/4”

Long Jump - Till Steinforth. 25’ 3”

Till most likely has qualified in the Decathlon, don’t think they run this event at the two preliminary meets, just top 16 or so competitors throughout the outdoor season.

Just confirmed that Nebraska is currently hosting Utah transfer offensive lineman Tyler Knaak on an official visit. Knaak was a three-star prospect in the 2022 class who redshirted last season at Utah and has four years of eligibility remaining. He (6-6, 305) didn't play at all last season.

The Salt Lake City native says that he will be in town until tomorrow and has no other visits lined up. Kentucky, Appalachian State and Buffalo are just a few of his reported offers since entering the portal.

Recruiting Four-star TE Jaden Reddell commits to UGA…

In less than a week Georgia has landed its second four-star tight end. This is a name you’ll know: Jaden Reddell. He’s teammates with Jaidyn Doss and visited Nebraska this spring.

Reddell (who I think is the best TE in the country) joins Colton Heinrich in Georgia’s class. Why am I telling you about Georgia’s recruiting spoils? Because my sources indicate the Bulldogs will only take two tight ends this cycle.

That means it’s very unlikely the Carter Nelson official visit even happens much less he commits there. I had said previously in the board that Georgia had higher rated players on the board at Nelson’s position and they have landed them both.

Good news for Nebraska’s pursuit of the dynamic athlete out of Ainsworth.

Baseball Live Thread B1G 1st round FINAL: (4) Nebraska 9, (5) Rutgers 7

The postseason is finally here.

No. 4 Nebraska (31-21-1, 15-9) takes on No. 5 Rutgers (33-21, 14-10) for the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament in downtown Omaha at Charles Schwab Field at the top of the hour. This week will be season-defining for the Huskers as due to its lack of quality wins and midweek losses, they'll be dependent on winning the tournament to earn a spot in a regional next week.

The Scarlet Knights are a fearsome foe to kick off the tournament for NU as Rutgers were chosen by a few to win the conference during the preseason, but inconsistency in league play cost them a few spots in the standings. They're near the bubble for a regional berth, so they'll be doing everything to win this week.

Plenty of pregame reading for you to get you ready. First, Inside Nebraska's overall Big Ten Tournament Preview as a I give a quick breakdown on each team, plus a hitter and pitcher from each squad that could make some noise:

Then, fifth-year reliever Kyle Perry and head coach Will Bolt spoke to the media on Tuesday before heading to Omaha. Here's that in the latest of What We Learned:

Finally, a team breakdown of the Scarlet Knights who throw their freshman ace today against Emmett Olson in what should be a very competitive game.

***New Commit*** Utah transfer OL Tyler Knaak commits to Nebraska

Utah transfer OL Tyler Knaak just committed to the Huskers moments ago. Knaak is the team's 12th transfer portal addition of the offseason as he joins Ben Scott (Arizona State) and Jacob Hood (Georgia.

Knaak explained his decision with @Greg Smith:

OT question for people who know more than me re: grocery stores

I’m on my way home yesterday and stop at Family Fare on 204th & Pacific. I never really stop there unless I just need a thing or two cause always been way overpriced. Anyways, they have pop upfront on display, Coke $8.99 per 12 pack and Pepsi $7.99 per 12 pack. Correct me if I’m wrong but I highly doubt Coke and Pepsi have raised their prices this much to retailers. Is Family Fare just ran by greedy idiots marking everything way up? A year or two ago that was the price for a 24 pack. And no I’m not a poor, yes I believe in a capitalist society, just curious. Seems like a good way to lose business.
