After a thread, a couple weeks ago discussing cruises, and Cruz shore excursions, I was shocked at how many recommended cruise sponsored tours.

As someone who travels quite often, and hates tour groups, I suggest a private local tour guide. Whether a shore excursion, or a two week visit, I feel a private/local tour guide is well worth the added expense (often it’s no more expensive).

We’ve used this website numerous times, and have had very good luck with it. The local guide knows all the secret attractions, & can arrange private (sometimes after hours) tours at the popular ones. They know all the good local nontourist restaurants with authentic, reasonably priced cuisine. More than once, the tour guide ended up being a long time friend, and we stay in contact. I’ve actually hosted a couple here in Santa Barbara.

Am currently planning a trip to Pompeii and looking to book a private tour for the whole two weeks. Nice thing about it is, you generally don’t need to rent a car, as the tour guide provides the vehicle….which offset the cost even more.

Nebraska’s Max Anderson and Will Walsh were named to the 2023 Big Ten Baseball All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the tournament on Sunday afternoon.



Anderson hit .444 at the plate with a tournament-high eight hits in four games. The junior had one double, an RBI, two runs scored and was walked twice. Anderson was 4-for-5 in an elimination game against Michigan State to become the first player in the country to reach the 100-hit mark this season.



Walsh went 2-0 in 10.2 innings of work in the tournament. Walsh posted a 0.00 ERA and eight strikeouts while allowing just five hits. The Leawood, Kan., native recorded his first win after dealing 1.2 shutout innings with one hit in Nebraska’s 9-7 opening round win against Rutgers.



Walsh became the first player in program history to toss a complete-game shutout in the Big Ten Tournament in the Huskers’ 4-0 victory over Michigan State in an elimination game. Walsh struck out seven, walked none and allowed just one Spartan baserunner to reach second base in the four-hit shutout.



Maryland’s Nick Lorusso was named Most Outstanding Player after leading the Terrapins to the tournament title and a perfect 4-0 record on the week.

Why does the BIG have issues with playing night games in November. It seems to work just fine for the NFL. I would trade every 11am game of the huskers for a night game.

The BIG should have at least one game in the following start times 11am, 230pm, 530pm and 7pm. They should also have 4 or 5 games a year at 9pm once USC and UCLA join the BIG.

Another day here at Charles Schwab Field as No. 4 Nebraska (33-22-1) takes on No. 1 Maryland (39-19) in the second game of the B1G semifinals on this Saturday afternoon. No. 3 Iowa shutout No. 6 Michigan 5-0 earlier this morning in the other semifinal to lock up in a spot in Sunday's Championship at 2 p.m.

The Huskers kept their season alive last night by pitching their own shutout as Will Walsh dealt a complete-game shutout limiting No. 8 Michigan State to four hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts. Ben Columbus had a pair of RBI singles while Max Anderson had his second four-hit game of the season by going 4-for-5 with four singles. Here's that recap from last night:


Today's game at 1 p.m. between the Huskers and Terps could be the first of two depending if Nebraska wins. If NU takes the victory, then the second game will take place no earlier than 5 p.m. or one hour after the conclusion of the first game - whichever comes first.

With Walsh saving the Huskers' bullpen, NU will throw out LHP Jackson Brockett (2-1, 4.19 ERA) while Maryland has RHP Jason Savacool (7-5, 4.61 ERA). Savacool played a part in the Terrapin's 2-1 win over NU on Thursday as he was awarded the winning decision after throwing 20 pitches in a scoreless frame in the 10th.

Mario Buford has been a long time target of Nebraska dating back to the previous coaching staff. Matt Rhule and his staff have kept the strong communication going and an official visit has been set for the first weekend of June. Buford will be on campus June 2-4.

Defensive backs coach Evan Cooper and Buford have a strong relationship and Buford says in some ways he already feels like his coach. Michigan State and Illinois should get an official visits from him too but those haven't been set. Oregon, Arkansas and Penn State are also involved in his recruitment. Right now I have Michigan State as the strongest competition for the Huskers.
