Volleyball Game Thread FINAL: No. 2 Nebraska 3, Michigan State 1 (25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15)

I'm back at the Devaney Center for the first time in three weeks as No. 2 Nebraska hosts Michigan State after a four-game road trip. It'll be the second time in the last week that NU has faced the Spartans as the Huskers took care of MSU last Friday in a four-set win. First serve is set for 6 p.m. with TV coverage on Nebraska Public Media.

That included Nebraska's worst set of the season in a 25-16 set two loss to Michigan State. Here's that recap to get a sense of this Spartan team.

And here's my weekend preview as Nebraska hosts the Spartans tonight and then NU renews a classic college volleyball rivalry with a 7 p.m. match versus No. 13 Penn State Saturday night.

Here is head coach John Cook's weekly What We Learned as he challenged his team's serving and gave his thoughts on Lindsay Krause's hot four-game stretch.

Finally, the Players' Corner featuring Bekka Allick and Lindsay Krause. This was probably one of the best player availabilities in a while as both Allick and Krause gave a great insight into the pulse of the team right now.

Let’s hit the breaks a sec

We are on our 2nd string QB… probably further down if we didn’t have a couple guys transfer.

3rd string RB

We are dipping well into our 3 string to rotation at WR.

The most talented TE was ruled ineligible and then broke into a smoke shop.

Our Oline leaks more than the Russian Navy

And we are 3-3….. I would be shocked if we make a bowl game, and if we do Rhule should be up for Big Ten Coach of the year

Biggest upgrade ...

Coaching... The staff that HCMR has put together has continued to impress me. If this staff continues as one I am sure that we will see vast improvement in years 2 and 3. Not only is Rhule a developer of talent with the players he seems to be a great judge of coaches and is a leader that many want to learn from... That also includes our OL coach. The coaches coach hard and the players play hard... Big upgrade...

Burford (GA) v. Mill Creek

Watching the Buford v. Mill Creek high school game. First, it looks like a college game. I would bet ALL the guys starting in this game will play college football and a lot of them are top D1 commits already. Different world of high school football that I recall.

Second, Dylan Raiola looks good, but was shocked to see Dayton when he came into the game. Dylan had his helmet pulled off, so he had to sit out a play. Dayton was the backup. Wow, maturity definitely kicked in. He looks completely different from many pictures of him on previous UNL trips. Will be interesting to see how he develops.

Baseball Team Red served steak dinner by Team White

This was hilarious, especially seeing Team White eat their dinner.

Team White won the opening game of the Red-White series 7-3, but dropped back-to-back games to Team Red by scores of 4-2 and 9-4. Nebraska also won its two fall exhibition with an 18-10 victory over Omaha and a 22-2 win against Cloud County CC.

I’ll have more on Fall Ball next week.
