Why is everyone so worried

Let me get this right, everyone is upset losing players and coaches that have been below average at best. All the changes may not work at the end of the day, but at this point will it really make us any worse? I am ready for coaches and players that want to believe in something, like getting an identity to what NU football is gonna become. We all want a physical team that is hard nosed. Right now we dont have anything close to that. DH has a plan and hopefully the new DC will as well. Our defense under White was average at best. I am ready for coaches not buddies and I think thats whats going to happen. NU has been average for 20 some years so no one that is leaving has been a difference maker. GBR

Glad White is gone

I am happy White left. Forget the Iowa game. Iowa’s offense is awful. The fact is White’s defense was wildly inconsistent. Great one game terrible the next. And a penchant for wilting when the game was on the line.

Go out and get a new DC who can field a more consistent product. There is turmoil right now. But things will settle down after all the portal bullshit is over and we have our new DC

This offseason is going to be NUTS

Not just for Nebraska, but college football in general.

Transfer portal opens on Monday, and there are already hundreds of players that have declared they are going in. Roster limits on the near horizon is going to fill the portal up.

Throw in coaching changes and assistants moving around, it's going to be very chaotic.

I hope Rhule and the support staff have their ducks in a row, there will be some great opportunities with portal players, we just can't really afford to spend the dollars and roster spot on a dud, but a couple of impact transfers can make a huge difference. Huge advantage to the programs that have big support staffs, most of the research should be done so that offers can be made quick. Monday is going to be crazy with thousands of offers to hundreds of players. It's going to melt transfer trackers.

Take a stab at our coaching staff.

What does it look like next year? Take a stab

HC - Rhule
OC - Holgo - Think he changed things and I like having him here.
WR - Nixon, but has a different title
RB - Barthell - Gets to stay
TE - Off the map guy from G5
OL - Donnie because DR15 stays

DC - Dvorcek (Phil Snow Assisting)
DB - Butler, but we have to replace that position very soon
LB - Promote the GA
DL - Knighton stays. I'm highly skeptical he stays, but who knows

ST - Bill Busch - Rhule wilts to the local pressure and brings him on

We all piss and moan about the staff continuing to not bring in the big dogs.

Recruiting Quick thoughts on Tony White's departure to FSU

- Nebraska's biggest priority is going to be retaining the key contributors on the current roster, specifically the front with Terrance Knighton reportedly set to follow White: Jimari Butler is already planning to enter the transfer portal. A few others in the defensive line room probably will too. Keeping Riley Van Poppel, James Williams, and Keona Davis around should be a top, top priority for Rhule. Keep an eye on some movement in the secondary as well potentially, especially with the report that Evan Cooper could be joining White and Knighton in Tallahassee.

- Of the 2025 commits, the one that's most affected by this is probably three-star defensive line commit Malcolm Simpson. As far as we know, both Tyson Terry and Kade Pietrzak remain on track to sign with the Huskers this week. Simpson could opt to wait or back off his pledge. He told Rivals' Adam Gorney there's no change to his commitment status, once the dominoes officially fall, that could change. Rhule is going to put in work to keep him committed though. We're tracking the linebacker group as well, but there's some confidence they'll stick together. We'll see though.

- This sets Nebraska back a bit with 2026 defensive targets, again mainly defensive line targets, but that will get sorted out with new hires and there's too many other priorities for Nebraska to address right now.

Hiring coaches is the

biggest crap shoot known to man.

Success at one stop doesn't mean success at the next (ex: Frost & pretty much every hot commodity coach the year we hired him and too many others to list).

Although rarer, failure doesn't mean failure at the next stop either (ex: Sarkisian, Odom, Kiffin)

For every Saban & Meyer, there are many, many opposite examples.

It doesn't do any good to get your panties in a bunch over this stuff. Stress and anxiety shortens lifespans and all the crap posting probably hurts the program.
