Here’s what we’re up against with NIL.

I understand that the correlation between NIL and a university’s alumni base isn’t absolute but nonetheless, it has to be a pretty big deal. There are some surprises here, especially in the #1 spot. This is from a June ‘24 article and it references living university alumni. I left a few out but they aren’t relevant on the college football scene.

1) Indiana 774,828

2) Penn State 750,000

4) Michigan 645,000

5) A&M 640,000

6) Michigan State 634,000

7) Rutgers 604,300

8) Ohio State 600,000

9) Texas 585,000

10) Purdue 575,000

11) UCLA 510,000

13) Wisconsin 481,778

14) USC 480,000

25) Alabama 221,000

Nebraska 193,000.

I was surprised that these living alumni numbers aren’t bigger than they are.

Game thread sat 3/29 vs Oregon State Final after 7 16-5 run rule applied.

If this game gets started and completes I will give inning by inning updates not in depth unless something happens. Forecast is not great much cooler today with rain all over the state. So far in Lincoln it could start but will likely have delays potentially or become rain shortened. No lineups yet will post as they pop.

Recruiting Nebraska offers 2027 four-star QB on campus

Nebraska offered 2027 Cheshire (Conn.) Academy four-star quarterback Keegan Croucher after his first trip to campus on Saturday. Huskers are evaluating multiple options in the 2027 cycle, but four-star Trae Taylor is the top priority right now. Good to see the staff doesn't have their eggs in one basket, but curious to see how they balance communication with other 2027 signal-callers.

OT - Tariffs

Even though I'll be accused of this, I don't want this to be a political discussion. I'm just curious regarding how this is done and why.

My understanding is that before we imposed the income tax, the US government was funded mainly by tariffs. So a tariff isn't anything new.

My question revolves around the notion of reciprocal tariffs. In what reasonable world would we not tariff another country the same amount that they're imposing on us? Is this some sort of backdoor economic development plan for other countries that's being waged on the backs of people and companies that produce goods for export? Isn't this something that has the potential to be rife with backdoor deals, fraud, and kickbacks to people in the various governments? Is that why this has gone on for so long?

To me, in a perfect world, the countries of the world would agree on one general tariff percentage for all imported products. The proceeds would be used to offset government expenses, lowering taxes for all citizens. I heard one estimate that if there was a general tariff of all products from all countries worldwide of 7%, that this would generate an additional $1 trillion annually to the US coffers and not affect our exporters much different than they're paying overall now.

Aside from that, why wouldn't we have imposed reciprocal tariffs 100 years ago? Is there some reason why our average tariff is 2.3%, but China's is almost 10% and Brazil's is over 13%? And if the answer is because it helps emerging economies, then what does that have to do with China and Brazil? The average rates in the EU are higher than ours (2.85%) but at least they're close.

Spring football

Just a week away and plenty to look forward to, new DL players, new WR room and a new OC calling plays for the entire season and the new ST coach who knows what he's doing. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm excited to see this team play this year under some new position coaches. We have some players who are still rehabbing from surgeries and injuries so some questions will still not be answered until later this summer. One last thing we will find out, will Nebraska add from the portal after spring football is over if the staff deems it necessary.
