In looking at the guys transferring out, some of the transfers at first glance appear to be quality guys that it hurts to lose. Jamari Butler for example. And in some ways it probably does hurt our depth.

However, how many of those guys were top tier talents? I would argue not a single one. I am not losing any sleep over losing any of them. Because not one of them would be starters on most top 20 teams. A player like Jamari Butler wouldn’t even make Ohio State’s two deep.

What we have now is a real opportunity to upgrade our roster with much better talent. We will have two new coordinators. And with every team struggling to get down to 105 there will be some talented guys in the portal. For Nebraska to get back to being a perennial top 10 team we have to start upgrading the talent on our roster. Instead of a Jamari Butler we need a Grant Wistrom. Sorry to pick on Jamari but I focus on him because I think he was our biggest loss.

Time to put the pedal to the metal in our recruiting. We didn’t spend $150 million on new facilities to develop walk ons. We did it to attract elite talent. Now go and get it damn it. The opportunity is there.

really sucks for a life-long college football fan. The current structure sets up the situation where, as a fan, we go from enjoying rooting for our players to a few short months or weeks later to rooting against them. Next year I will be rooting even harder than normal for Florida State to fail miserably.

I have not seen or heard anything about Torres signing. Is he a late signee or is there an issue?

5 was tough for me, I love our young talent in there, but it would be nice to add a quality experienced presence.

I think we have to add a couple WRs to, but think those are easier to find so, farther down the list.

We really need a WR like 2 on Syracuse

He seemed in good spirits. He did say that he knew Tony was basically a short timer in Lincoln and that he knew that when he hired Butler such that Butler would be strongly considered for the DC job. He likes Tony’s defense and would definitely want to consider operating in some variant of it. He said he likes the flexibility.

We lost some guys in the portal and lost some guys to the draft. But bringing in guys like Dawson Merritt and Christian Jones who will play right away. Kade Pietzrak, Tyson Terry and Malcolm Simpson will help on the D line as well. Grab some big boys in the portal to offset the loss of Ty and Nash to play with RVP and we won't skip a beat.
