To me, it is Zeppelin all the way! Much more variety of sounds, historical influence and musicianship. I am willing to bet Metallica agrees.

Football UPDATED: Fan Day Photo Gallery + new photos of (almost) every player on Huskers' 2024 roster

Went over to Fan Day earlier on Saturday. Added a gallery of all the players I captured photos of there, so we have a new list of all the players on the Huskers' 2024 roster who Tim or I captured photos of this month.

My borderline obsessive goal going into fall camp was to get at least one quality updated photo of every single player on the roster. That's 151 total players. I failed...

But 91 percent ain't bad!

Dayton’s Opening Night….

Weird for someone who I was told by many on here “wouldn’t even start for his high school team this year”. Looks like the game was marred by bad weather. Played the whole game.

Why do the words “Jeff Sims is an NFL player”

Keep running thru my head when I read things about our 9 on 7 practice, how well our left tackle is doing, or how well Buford can do at corner? Man, I so want all of it to be true and we smack some folks around this year. I want to believe!!! It will happen at some point. I went 22 years or so until we won our third title, and it felt SO GREAT! So here’s to be GREAT again.

Basketball Nebraska offers 2028 guard Dylan Zeigler

Nebraska offered 2028 Cleveland Heights (Ohio) Lutheran East guard Dylan Zeigler today. Zeigler is a 6-foot-1, 155-pound guard.

Husker assistant coach Ernie Zeigler is Dylan's uncle. Dylan now has two offers — Creighton and Nebraska. Trey Zeigler is an assistant coach on staff at Creighton as well.

Friday Afternoon Meetings

How on earth do people schedule these meetings late in the week?!

This is a venting post about being in a 2.5 hour Friday afternoon meeting covering what new hires should learn in their first week (next new hire group is in January 2025), but how does a coworker not know that this is the most undesirable timeframe in a 40-50 hour work week?

Guess how productive I am in this current meeting - CLUE: I'm typing this while in the meeting.

***I'm prob mostly pissed because it's only 76 degrees w/ overcast in late August. I should be looking for my golf ball in somebody's yard right now!***

Football Ferentz suspended for Iowa's opener

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz and wide receivers coach Jon Budmayr will receive a one-game suspension for committing a recruiting violation when courting quarterback Cade McNamara before the transfer portal opened in 2022, a source briefed on the violation said.

The suspension is related to an NCAA investigation, but it wasn't immediately clear whether the sanction is being imposed by Iowa or the NCAA.

Iowa athletic director Beth Goetz declined to comment. Ferentz will address the media at a news conference at 1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday.

McNamara played his first three seasons at Michigan from 2020 to 2022, leading the Wolverines to the 2021 Big Ten championship but playing in only three games in 2022 after suffering a season-ending knee injury. He entered the transfer portal on Nov. 28 that year -- the day it opened -- and by Nov. 29 there was mutual interest between McNamara and the Hawkeyes, a team source told The Athletic. On Dec. 1, McNamara committed to Iowa.

Then, Budmayr was a special assistant to the head coach and as a former Wisconsin assistant had previously recruited McNamara. Their past relationship contributed to McNamara joining the program.

McNamara is back at Iowa for his second season and sixth in college football. He is battling former Northwestern quarterback Brendan Sullivan for the starting role.

The Hawkeyes open against Illinois State on Aug. 31 at Kinnick Stadium. Ferentz, 69, has guided Iowa's program since 1999 and is the nation's longest-tenured head coach. It's likely assistant defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Seth Wallace, who was elevated to assistant head coach last winter, will replace Ferentz on game day.
