Special Teams question

We all know our special teams are god awful. The questions I have since I have no idea how an everyday practice works: How much time is allocated in practice to special teams? Does special teams separate in practice and work in a group for the whole time? How much of our problems hang on Foley if there isn’t much time per practice on ST?

I’m just trying to figure it out. Reason I ask these questions is because it seems like they hardly ever practice special teams. It happens so often that something besides Foley is off IMO.

Football After loss of mother, Rahmir Johnson leads NU to first bowl win since 2015

"Everything I do is for Nebraska, for this team," Rahmir Johnson said after Nebraska's 20-15 win over Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl. "So when I found out the news about my mom passing, I told coach Rhule I don't want it to be a big distraction, I didn't want the team to be like, 'Oh, Rahmir, I'm sorry for your loss,' and all that stuff. That's what it means to be a Cornhusker. I love this program. I'm dedicated to this place. And even with news like that, I still want to play for these guys. That's just the type of person I am."

On Rahmir Johnson running through personal adversity, and the run play that sealed the win: Stud Right 30 Hammer.

John Butler

I know many—including myself—were lukewarm about this promotion, but I don’t know how the debut could have been any better. Offense made some clutch plays, moved the chains in critical situations, and had enough points, but the defense won the day.

We stopped them on 4th down…what?…3 times? Stopped a critical 2 point conversion attempt?

Awesome defensive performance. If this is who Butler is, I could learn to love the guy as defensive coordinator.

Husker Nation

I will be the first to say. I have been as hard on these coaches as anyone. But this fan base although a small portion especially in this forum is down right toxic. Lots of people need to look in the mirror before they spew the BS they do. Reading these threads you would have thought we lost by 4 td.

There are many areas to improve on. But we have a winning season and a bowl win. The first since 2016. They finally won a game they have typically lost for the past 8 years. In my opinion we saw a lot of young players who didn’t bail to the portal and made plays.

I am for one happy Rhule has made changes on the staff where we have struggled. Seeing that I am hopeful he will do the same for Special teams. GBR and march on to 2025. Thank you coaches and players to give me an opportunity to cheer on the team in December.

Football Rahmir Johnson

We'll have a story on this later today, but thought I'd share now because of how powerful it is.

At the postgame press conference, Rhule said Rahmir’s mother passed away in November. Rahmir didn’t want anyone knowing, he wanted to finish the season with his brothers.

He was named MVP today and had the game-sealing first-down run on fourth down.
