so i read your article "Carpenter: Play to win the game? We'll find out as confusion, tension build"

um, i've got a couple questions. the first is, why isn't this posted so we can respond with comments in the thread section of Insiders. there is probably an obvious reason for that which just escapes me at the moment, but still i'm trying to figure that out.

You do a great job with your articles.
and, i'm not a fan of this title: " . . . as confusion, tension build"

with whom is confusion and tension building? the fans? the team? you? the fans, well, that's a perennial status so that's a given. so why point that out? you? well, like many of us, that is obvious because of the text of your article itself.

i would have expected, since that is such a charged add-on phrase at the end of your title ("as confusion, tension build"), that you would have pointed to some broader confusion and tension. beyond your own and that of many fans (obviously).

my concern is you used it as an 'attention grabber.' it is indeed charged language. the worst case is it insinuates - whether you intended or not - that there is tension on the team. because what other tension is even relevant. mine? yours? the fans? not really.

here's the thing, you chose to put forth a certain narrative: ~'we only have one game left to make a bowl and secure the extra practices we so desperately need. tension and confusion is building.'

let me offer an alternative title: ~"a lot of us fans (and even writers) are confused and getting tense, but HC Rhule stays the course with a steady hand on the rudder"

the the opening might have said: ~'In spite of the frustration with the way the last two games concluded, Matt Rhule knows what he is doing - what he is building. He's done it before, and he'll get it done here. The team has bought in to his system even with the last two frustrating losses. I expect a focused, bought-in, and victory-seeking team when Iowa comes to town.'
something of that ilk.

it's a different narrative for certain. but no less true than the one you put forth. guess i'm wondering why you chose the path you did, other than the typical journalist approach to dust up some controversial or fear-based narrative.

was not a fan of that title. the article was fine. you were frustrated and articulated that well.

i think we see a committed team this week. i think we see a victory. that's my narrative. Winking 😎
any way you slice it . . .

GBR!!!
