Like the SEC is planning on doing when the Sooners and whorns enter in 2024.

Examples:
Oklahoma plays A&M, Missouri and texass.
Alabama plays Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee
texass plays Oklahoma, A&M and Arkansas

Nebraska 3 Permanent Rivals
Ioway, Minnesota and Wisconsin or Wisconsin could be replaced with UCLA..

Have also heard of a system of

1 static rival
2 protected rivals that rotate every 4 years
3-6-6 format

Not sure I like this, how do you get schedules that are relatively balanced? If one team's permanent rivals are Ohio State and Michigan and another's are Indiana and Northwestern, that doesn't seem very fair.

I'd prefer more of an NFL scheduling system that is based on the standings from the previous season.

I don’t think they are going to be balanced. That media rights deal was based on the big boys playing each other more often.

I wouldn’t be surprised for us to be matched up with Penn State very frequently

so lame iowa and minn would be our 'rivals' - literally who cares

I want USC and ohiost on the schedule every year
UCLA has played Nebraska more than any other team in the B1G (13)..So UCLA would be the logical choice.

Also USC has played Ohio St more than any other team (24)

UCLA and USC both have played Illinois the second most..

16 teams
Four 4 team pods=3 games.
Play two teams from each of the other pods home and home, then switch to the other 2 teams.
3+6=9 conference games.

All’s I can tell you is the SEC has the same issues wouldn’t you think?

I don't mind this. it's what barry alvarez said 10 years ago when the coup was completed.

Nebraska is a top 4 brand in the B1G, and should be treated as such.

college football is better when you're playing your peers, not these low-level afterthought programs that make up the bulk of the conference

I like Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa for Wisconsin
USC can get UCLA, Ohio State and Michigan
I thought that at first too, but now I think USC will get an Ohio St and a team from the west like Wisconsin and UCLA will get Michigan and Nebraska..

Let's hope that isn't the case....

I get that but I’d rather play Minnesota.

We’ve played 63 games with them ( 25-36-2) there is some rivalry aspect.

Penn St we’ve played the 18 times (10-8).
Yeah I know but I'm just thinking what would bring more eyeballs and would get better GameDay experiences l.

For fans and proximity, iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin make sense. Not sure what will happen with ccg. If they're eliminated we're gonna want to make sure we've got Ohio St, Penn St, usc or ucla involved. You won't be able to sleep your way through. The iowa model ain't gonna work

Well each team has to have at least two permanent rivals they play every season. That's driven by Michigan needing to always play Ohio State and Michigan State. With USC and UCLA thrown into the mix rivalries for them will have to be created beyond just playing each other.

Why do we get suck with Iowa? That's about as exciting of a "rivalry" as Rutgers.
100% agree. But I did a poll on here a couple months ago and the overwhelming result was that Husker fans wanted to stick with Iowa as the Black Friday game.

I've always felt like Iowa adds nothing to NU's football program and nobody around the country cares about that game. I guess the last 20 years have really changed Husker fans.

I personally still don't care about Iowa or Minnesota even if they've beaten NU a lot recently. But who hasn't?

It’s all about Geographical games with in t conference..

No difference in what the SEC had to deal with.

What’s the problem?

Contrary to the majority sentiment in this thread, I think Iowa is the right choice as one of rival teams for Nebraska. Just anecdotally there's more animosity toward Iowa by posters on this board than any other B1G team. That's a sign of rivalry folks.

The fan base has been cranky about our rival since OU split for the B12 South.

Looks like I guessed correctly on Nebraska.

Still think USC is getting Ohio St besides UCLA.

So you play three non conference games then you play three pod games then two games each from the three remaining pods rotating different teams each year. I may not be thinking this out very well but it's the only way I see it if you have four pods.

If you were to create the conference into East and West with eight schools in each division the BIG you would have to play nine conference games and I believe the BIG is too physical to play that many conference games, you would wear out teams before the playoffs. The four pods are the way to go. jmo

You can bet the huge TV contracts are going to want 9 conference games just like we’ve been doing since 2016.

Also think they’ll rotate schedules every 2 years so you play home and away the following year with six teams, the other 6 you would play home and away, this way it takes 4 years for everyone to play each other..

Looks like once again Wisconsin would have the easiest path to the conference championship...

Are we sure Alvarez isn't standing in as commissioner???
