There are a ton more receivers that have been offered and have some interest in us that have yet to visit but as we see from above we have not closed well in the last three years with receivers. This is not necessarily the coaches fault as some of these were silent or verbal commits or we seemed in good shape with right up to signing day. Not sure the answer to that when the rug is pulled out last minute. Do you keep recruiting other players and get extra commits then pull offers on signing day as LOIs get submitted and you fill up?
We have 3 healthy (somewhat healthy) receivers from the last 3 classes in Stanley Morgan, JD Spielman, and Tyjon Lindsay. That is not a good combination. Add in DPE and we have 4 scholarship WRs playing and three of those four are banged up and playing through it. Yet another reason I feel we need to keep this staff for at least another year and hope they can correct some of these shortfalls with the class this year. We are bare at so many positions.
I hear those that say we shouldn't have had so many extra scholarships to start the year. Maybe not but I believe 2 were from non-qualifiers and at least 2 from transfers. I believe the others were from last minute switches (Jamire Calvin) or last minute decisions that didn't go our way (Joseph Lewis and his teammate). Also, that being said if we had filled those last year our class would be full right now for this years class.
